When I was in high school, my team used an outlined running program; There were about 20 days IIRC and each day had a different set of requirements. For example:
Day 10
1 x 880 2:25 rest 3:00 (880 yards, meaning 8 field lengths)
2 x 440 1:10 rest 2:00
4 x 220 :35 rest 1:15
4 x 110 :17 rest :45
Also the amount of time required to finished was specified and as the days went on the amount of time allowed to complete each sprint and for rest decreased. At the end there was a "test." It was to run 20 x 110, each sprint in 15s and 30s of rest between sprints. This was very hard but not as hard as the days that led up to it.
I was just wondering if anybody else used a similar program and if they had a copy they could get me somehow? I lost the copy I had in high school, and I'm just coming off a long period of inactivity and I'm ready to get in serious shape again for the spring season when I intend to be trying out for several colleges. The program I had in HS was the best I've ever had for purely cardiovascular conditioning, which for me right now is the most important thing. My coach told us it was a pretty standard program that colleges all over the country use so I thought somebody out here might have used it or something like it. Especially since I will be mostly running alone, it's important for me to have a set of standards that I didn't set for myself, but that was set by professionals as this program was. If I try and write my own program I will probably make it either too hard or too easy and not taper it properly so that it's safe. Anyway, if anyone knows of a good program like this, let me know how I can get a copy of it. Thanks a lot!
