I know a lot of people have been wondering when Really Bend It Like Beckham is coming out in the States (i think its been slated for release in April), but it seems that you can buy exclusive advanced copies right now. They have 1,000 available immediately. Check it out -- www.beckhamstore.com . I heard that the DVD is getting rave reviews over in the U.K.

So how did you get the exclusive rights to distribute this in the US, and why are you hosting your store on "mylocalbands.com"?

I've had it for a month now, b/c I have a NTSC/PAL region free DVD player.

It's a good dvd. Not great. It's shot indoors, on a soundstage, with a fake fenced in soccer field. They shot it in Madrid, andflew in a bunch of kids from the UK to work with Becks. This makes for weird discussions with the kids b/c they all want to talk about Man U, and all he talks about it Real Madrid, which the kids could obviously care less about.

So the format is that Becks tells the kids that, for example, "first touch" is key to ball handling an passing. Then they show him in a game doing it. Then he shows the kid an exercise, like taking a pass, transferring it from one foot to another and then kicking it back. Then the kids do it on half the screen while the otehr half goes over what Becks just said.

The good thing is that he does have some good things to say about kicking the ball and curling it. if you want to know his "secret" this is the only place you'll find it.

The worst part is that it's shot like a music video, so you never really see him make a complete move before they cut to another camera or bring in a graphic. THe stuff he teaches is cool, but you only see him do it once, then the kids do it and then it's on to the next thing.
The full motion menus are also annoying and take too long, and then they throw in him sitting around chatting with the kids about his diet, fav. players, etc...and they also interview him about his favorite moments as a player.

I'd give it 3 stars out of 5. As far as instructional dvd/tapes go there are better.

I agree its not the best football skills dvd in the world some bit are alright. I guess its aimed at young children and beginners though.

But the bit thats useful is the bit when he is showing the kids how to do free-kicks i thought he explained that bit really well.

A good skills DVD is 'Play the Brazilian way' i like that one loads of nice little skill in there.

I'm not ordering off that web site. It isn't secure. Not even the credit card page. That's unacceptable in this day & age.

My guess is that he's selling bootleg DVDs, or nothing at all.

Nobody, repeat nobody, with a site like that would get the contract rights to sell an "exlusive" Beckham product in the US 6 months before it was supposed to be released. He might as well say he's selling the new Adidas boots too!

Buyer beware.

You saw a preview. The 2 dvd set is about 3 hours worth.

Plus, the airline staff don't take kindly to practicing your free kicks in the aisle.
