Sorry nerfaanfc, just thought i'd get the ball rolling on what people are selecting for the whole list.
here's the direct link if you haven't voted yet.....
http://www.uefa.com/fanzone/TeamOfTheYear/2004/flash.html
Here's my list...
Coach: Jose Mourinho
Keeper: Vitor Baia
RB: Cafu
CB1: Maldini
CB2: Terry
LB: Zambrotta
RM: Giuly
CM: Gerrard
AM: Ronaldinho
(Kaka came close, but the fact that the introduction of Ronaldinho, was a MASSIVE turning point for the imminent positive development of Barcelona can not go without notice. Toughest position to make a choice IMO)
LM: Robben (Usually would have gone with Nedved, but he has proper competition now. Plus, he has'nt really done that much this year. Even amongst a blistering Czech repuplic squad)
LM: Robben
ST1: Henry
ST2: Shevchenko

PS. How was Makaay not nominated????Ibrahimovic,Moritentes(only played first half of year),Larsson,Rooney and Baros(Both only had good Euro 2004's).All of these players having a better year than Makaay is an absolute and utter joke!

Well, it's well obviously Roy Makaay is the most underrated striker in Europe for years already. He's one of this season's CL topscorer(once again) together with the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy. He didn't played very often in the Dutch National Squad so as in Euro 2004. But it hadn't anything to do with his qualities..but more of Advocaat's qualities as coach. He went for van Nistelrooy as lone striker.
My Team:
Vitor Baia(Give this fellow the credit he has never gotten with the big audience and that he deserves)
Giourkas Seitaridis
John Terry
Ricardo Carvalho
Gianluca Zambrotta(All because Cole looks and acts like a prick with a gigantic ego)
Clarence Seedorf
Steven Gerrard
Frank Lampard
Arjen Robben
Adriano
Fernando Morientes(Made the biggest mistake to return to Real. He was practically having his best period of his career, and Real is known to ruïn players as he's 4th choice now)
Coach: Otto Rehhagel(If you manage to lead a crap team to the European Champions, then you clearly are the best coach of the year)
Joelinho

GK vitor baia (top goalie in europe)

ST fernando morientes(top striker)
ST ruud van nistelroy
Coach: Jose mourinho (no contest) and for this comment "Otto Rehhagel(If you manage to lead a crap team to the European Champions, then you clearly are the best coach of the year)" he did well by defending all the time but how come he cant continue this in the world cup qualifying? jose mourinho took a porto team to win back to back euro cups(uefa and championsleague) and now is makign chelsea the bets team in europe!!!

How come people are putting Ronaldinho in the UEFA team of the year, when he wasnt even in the champions league, and Barça lost in the 1/4 finals of the uefa cup?
Get real and put Deco, who made 6 goal assists and 2 goals last year, MOM in the final, and 2 goals and assists this year.

why not give credit to where it supposed to be. he took a bunch of players who have yet to see any big matches and told them right. his scheme of man marking was brilliant took key players out of there game by beating them up. great tactic.
thats what a coahces job is to give them directions. what are they supposed to do, play the game for them

Dado Prso needs some consideration for this team. He was the joint top scorer in the entire Champions League last year.

Half his 8 goals in UCL came in one match. PRSO wasn't even in the top three attacking players at A.S.Moanco.
(Ludovic Giuly, Fernando Morientes and Jerome Rothen)
Dado Prso had a few good games but didn't produce in Ligue 1 and is now playing in Scotland (if u don't have 20 goals in SPL by now, ur a joke, lol).
What i mean is to be the best you have to play the best by moving to Rangers he has 4 league games that matter outside Scotland. (plus they got ousted of UCL and now UEFA cup)

Seems strange how more than half the team are Portugese. I am thinking possibly a bit biassed???If they were this good they wouldn't have lost the Euro 2004 final now would they???

Seems strange how more than half the team are Portugese. I am thinking possibly a bit biassed???If they were this good they wouldn't have lost the Euro 2004 final now would they???Isn´t biased, overall the nation with most success in 2004 was Portugal.
CL winner --» FC Porto (normally played with 8, 9 Portuguese in the starting eleven)
Euro 04 finalist --» Portugal ( we lost but no one can deny we were one of the best during the tournament)
U-21 Euro third place
Olympics (played like crap)
I think this is enough to justify almost an all Portuguese starting eleven...for something i believe(?) Portugal is the nation with more players to select in this prize.
