Not Wall Street.. A talent to use stats to make what is not true look true is usually most valued in Washington, DC..

On second thought, maybe a Wall Street accounting firm could use you.

Yeah, quakes fans rock.
I just finally happened across this thread and this made me laugh....why?
cuz everyone on the Quakes board KNOWS that my love is not for Joey. we're just friends. The love lies elsewhere and his name isn't Landon either.

Ron Jeremy? Remember a player only loves you when he's playing you...

Kudos Fuzzy and pay no attention to these philistines. They wouldn't recognize mathematical truth if Tyco Brahe cut off their nose with it. Your calculations ring true for this observer. From top to bottom, your indices show faithfully which fans are most geeked out over their teams by this forums, ahem, standards.

How do you figure that non-MLS cities have 0 attendence? For example I know several people from Houston who come to almost every Burn game.

Because, sadly, they did not attend any games in a non-MLS city (Houston).
All they managed to do was lower the BSTFI for Dallas. Now if they posted in the Dallas boards then that would make up for it.
On a side note, if they posted in the the non-MLS boards, they would have made the non-MLS BSTFI more infinity.

You mean to tell me that there is more infinity than infinity? I need to lay down.

Actually, the lamest stat is "any MLS goalkeeper stat other than GAA."

actually, get rid of that and subtract those posts from the total, and you will find that we still have more posts.

But the measure isn't to see which team has the most posts. That's easy enough. Rather, how often does someone post on bigsoccer after attending a match.
The assumption being, and a ridiculous assumption at that, is that the more hard-core fans post on bigsoccer. The more you post, the bigger fan you are.
The corollary being that the less you post the more likely you're a soccer mom dragging the troop to a game in her minivan (Rapids) or computer illiterate or just plain illiterate (LA Galaxy). :p
You could of course remove the "DC word association" thread or the Quakes "Random gibberish" thread but that would hardly make up for the fact that this is a completely lame statistic.

TrueFan index isn't indicative of anything. Most of that drivel is directed at the MTV/teenager comments about Landon Donovan which doesn't count. Personally, the Random Jibberish thread should be moved elsewhere but that's the moderators' job.
The real index should be aimed at the attendance figures and season ticket sales--not how many times Landon Donovan/Taylor Twellmann et al have been on TRL or any other show and the talk on how "dreamy" the players are. The kids can talk about that, and the fans can discuss the real issues, be the team or front office. For the record, I attend almost all of the Clash/Quakes (and CyberRays) games and had season tickets since 1998. Might be a good idea to replace it with the actual attendance figures/season ticket sales/cost of promotions/advertising...
Cheers!
