I don't see how fines are a sufficient punishment in contemporary football.
Wenger must be a relatively wealthy man, so £15,000 isn't going to hurt him.

well the FA can't banish him from the touchline as the misconduct didn't occur during the game, e.g. yelling at a 4th official.

That might only be a couple of days' wages, but its better than no reprimand at all. A couple of days wages would still hurt a bit.

It's probably more of a nuisance than anything. Glad it is now over, the press can leave it alone, and we can all move on. There are more important things to worry about now (like defending set pieces!!!).

and you know what else... the FA banned van nistlerooj for this exact incident.. how is that wrong?? AW said the truth and gets fined for it. This story is really tiresome to me but its a travesty when you get fined for being honest.

Expensive word count though! If this is what they charged AW, I hope it is at least double for Cech!

I am curious as to what "severely reprimanded" exactly means.

I hope he appeals, otherwise I demand to be brought up before the FA on the same charge, the mans a cheat, simple as that, he's not the only one but he's a cheat.

Yesterday, i saw another version of the Wenger quote somewhere. In it he said something like "We know him, he can only cheat you if you don't know about him." From my reading of this AW is saying RVN could not have cheated Arsenal, but is in fact, a cheat. I just thought it was strange because i never heard that ending to the quote before. I love quoting people out of context in my posts, but i really hate it when "legitimate" news organizations do it.

The FA called him a big meanie and wouldn't serve him the complementary lunch.

thing is - if this was taken to a court of law then wenger would get off scot free because he described what ruud does - he cheats!
there is no "other side" to this - ruud cheats, someone points it out, they get fined?
funny world we live in!

Who in all fairness is a cheat, the games rife with them, but that's not what this is all about, R van nostrilhair is a cheat, as the man said.
If ferguson, or anyone else wants to name cheats, then so be it, but I wouldn't accept a fine for telling the truth!!
