I should be at the university but I'm sick so I was watching.
Considering the circumstances they played really good.
Poldi was bad, I hope he's just tired.
Ballack's goal was a thing of beauty but Japan's defense was not really world class.

Just love those Japanese fans with their little Germany flags who cheered every german goals.

Why does Ballack play better for Germany???I just don't understand.

How did Klose play? Was he just lucky or is he finally getting back to where he was in 2002?

Since when did Germany start wearing red?

Since the last match. It's blasphemy not to play in black-white, but I like it anyway. ;)

The match against Cameroon sees the German side play in red jerseys for the first time. "We have opted for offensive play and the jerseys reflect this. After all, the red colour symbolises a form of aggression," said team manager, Oliver Bierhoff.

in my opinion, he`s even better than 2002. he played a great first round for werder bremen - scored 10 times and assisted 7 goals in the bundesliga, furthermore he scored twice in champions league. already against cameroon, the last match of the nationalteam in november, klose striked twice after his substitution in the 60th minute.
miro klose is one of the most compact forwards in europe. his only problem was, that he played long time with a crappy team in kaiserslautern, and lost self-confidence.

@balla: ballack played pretty well for fc bayern this season. he`s just more inconspicuous there, cause he plays there a more defensive role.
but i´m sure, he could do even better. the fans thought, as he went to munich, he`s a offensive midfielder like ronaldinho because he scored many many goals. so they didn`t respect him much at the beginning. but now as they saw, that he is a strategist and no dribbler, they are very confident with him.

by the way, it was my first post on this board :)

Solid as ever! You should have listen to Bela Rethy, I think he's in love with Per.

good stuff, selfdeception... very very true about ballack...

i cant complain about ballacks performances this season, especially after the first couple of months...
lately, hes been absolutely great for the team...

as a side note - to whoever was wondering about ballacks performance for club and country - i feel country should always be above club, and its good to see ballack raising his game on such occassions and showing us all what hs capable of...

however, im sure this season will be the one where ballack really gets his groove on for the club :-)

Japan, Iran, Brazil...bring em all on! Germany will be on top again, BWAHAHAH!

As for Ballack, yes, the lads gotten back on track, he has been absolutley vital to Bayern and Germany for the last couple of months. He's been nothing but brilliant, like he was with Leverkusen. I'm glad to see such an inexperienced young defense holding off the Japanese defense.

I can take that wimpy green, but red?
Anyway, Klinsmann seem to be doing a good job. It should quiet his critics for a time being.

Welcome! A great first post.

I haven't seen Klose play this year, apart from his dismal performance in Euro 2004, so can't really comment. I've read about his success at Werder of course, and am very happy about it. Looks like the Ailton-Klose rotation game has turned out to be one of the best things for German football this year. If Klose and Kuranyi keep scoring like they do, Germany might have a real chance in two years. What about Asamoah's revival, thought he was dead and buried as well?

Shame about Podolski not doing so well, but I thought he was a bit over-hyped anyway.

Well, I am NOT in love with Per. ;) But I still agree with Rethy that Mertesacker was very, very good again. One of the best German players in this match.

@Alex_K:

I think there are more horrifying things than Bela Rethy...like, having to listen to Gerd Rubenbauer *hähä* ;)

??? Which "debut goal" vs. Spain?

Benjamin Lauth has not yet scored for the German A-team in an official match.

Do you refer to an U-21 oder U-20 game?
