Hey guys, i'm interested in what sorts of injuries people have recieved from playing at any level? From little niggles to broken bones! Yesterday whilst playing for college, i broke both of my wrists and my right hand index finger! No-one could ever describe how much i'm pissed off right now! I can't do anything practical and am just about managing to type with one finger on my weaker left hand!

I sahtterd my fibula, dislocated my ankle and broke my talus(the bone holding my ankle together and allowing it to move up and down) and ruptured my ankle ligiments all at one time when I got hit with a late tackle in Sept 2003
I had a 9inch metal rod put in my leg with 7 screws to help the healing process, I had it removed due to it causing pain a year later (this sept) I have only played about ten matches since the original recovery due to pain from the plate but now that its out and the bone are fully healed I am starting my come back for real now.

I slipped while in a game and a broke both bones in my left forearm. It was completely floppy and the bone come through the skin. I had to wait on the ground as I couldn't move it for the ambulance for 30mins. Eventually they put two plates and screws in my arm and i can't play till next year.

u know its scary reading everyones posts...ive never broken anything WHILE playin soccer, just a few really really bad rolled ankles, bad bruises on my shins and hurt shoulder from a fall one time but nothing that serious...i consider myself lucky I guess. Ive been playin since i could walk and im 17 now but i have seen team mates go tru a lot of serious injuries...i thank god everytime i step on and off the field....

I've been pretty fortunate/durable so far. I've never broken a bone in my life, my worst injury was a bad ankle sprain two years ago that made me miss most of the preseason and one game.

Last high school season part of my lip fell off and had to be sewn back on but the doc ********ed up the re-sewing and it looks wierd now. i guess its a good story for the kids and adds to my ugliness.

I also have never broken anything in my 12 years of playing. As a keeper, I am a tad clumsy, which is odd. lol Anyway, I was at a Wizards camp a few years ago, and while practicing diving, I guess my cleat repeatedly hit my inner thigh about 20 times, and the bruise was enormous and so many different colors. You know you've done well when you can get a pro player and a doctor to both simply say "daaamn, what'd you do?"
Worst injury witnessed would be a whole new thread. Poor Preki...

I too am reticent to post as I haven't really had any serious accident on a football pitch. Worse thing aside from spraining ankles, and the occasional "table-top" foul has been ajammed jaw from blocking a crossed ball at close range with my face.
Had one of our keepers get a broken femur from a late charge by a striker. That one got me sent off moments later when I flattened the prick...wait, broke my hand on his face. Does that count?

Did Stoichkov do that to you?
LOL, no it was a jr. college game but it did ruin my shot at a two year deal playing D1 which sucked at the time but I am ok with it now........
A funny thing about the Stoichkov leg break tackle though is that a kid I coached for a few years who's dad is a track coach at American University was at the game when Hristo busted that kids leg.
He said it was one of the worst things he has ever seen in his life, and totally done with intent to hurt the kid, maybe not as bad as it turned out but Hristo was out to get him from his view point.
