I believe that he is from Puerto Barrios, close to the border with Belize where English last names are not unusual.

Yes, that is true. He is from Puerto Barrios. I think he is from a small Island called Livingston. From what I have heard his ancestors are from Jamaica.
revolver34 is right...in this area english last names are prevalent even though they do not speak english. The majority speak Spanish and the dialect, Garifunda.

puerto barrios is a GARIFUNA community, with their own dialect that mixes spanglish and indian words for the coastal line of central america (pretty much it runs in traditions and caracol rituals (the music kind) from Limon, costa rica via nicaragua (bluefields) and honduras to Puerto barrios.

Well Iam from Puerto Barrios and now I Live in Los Angeles, Livingston is next to Barrios and yes next to our state of Belize. It has a different population than the rest of Guatemala, one of the reasons for the better level of play in the national team has to do with half the team was born in Izabal. Here are some players Freddy Garcia, Freddy Thompson, Nestor Martinez, not sure if Mario Acavedo, Brown, Guillermo Ramirez as well as some less known that are in the second teams, plus many players from the past came from here.
