Is it just possible that potential players who could improve the squad look at NUFC and see a club that has fired a respected and well-like manager who had a slow start for a curmudgeon with a tough reputation who has led the club to the bottom half of the table and cancelled the players xmas party. A club who can't sign Bernard, and who calls him a liar in the open press ("We can't understand why he says he hasn't seen a contract, we have verified he has..."). A club who publicly comes in for a player on Rangers hours before that player is due to play for his club's UEFA life (Boumsong goes on to play like shite, Gers are out).

Boumsong has been linked with other clubs, to get him at St James', NUFC will have to look like an attractive option. If I was only a top class internationally sought after defender (I can dream, can't I), I would see nothing in the current set up to make me want to come play in Toon.

Maybe Toon needed a change, maybe it was time for Bobby to go. But since he's been in town, err toon, Souness has done nothing to make a player of the calibre NUFC needs want to come play for Toon. I for one think Sheppard has made a mistake. How long will GS get before he has to produce or hit the road? If he signs no one of note in January, I bet he's gone in June, at the latest. If he signs a "promising youngster" or resigns Ronny J, or signs someone whom NUFC hypes way beyond his worth, it is a sign he is broken and will not be able to take NUFC back to Europe any time soon.

After his appalling display last night, the Geordies are welcome to him.

He fell short of his own credentials and disgraced the Light Blue Jersey.

£8 million? Yer havin a laff!

Well in that case sunshine. Lets say a million and NUFC's defense. Sorted. Lets go for a pint.
