Really liked this article where the author contends it is just not in Arsenal's nature to defend. Cole's a converted forward, Kolo's one too, and Lauren's a converted HB. Maybe Vieira should be our "other" CB?

American football was my first love and I always try to figure out what position soccer players (and basketball players, too) would play if they played football. And let me tell you, Lauren would make one great fullback!

Kolo was catually a CB for his national team, but was playing midfield with his club. he made mention of this last year when all the "Wow! What a quick move he's made" stories started popping up. He told, maybe it was the club's website, I think, that CB was always his natural position and that his club had made him switch to midfield and he felt more "natural" moving back to defense for Arsenal.
Or maybe the drugs were stronger last year and I just dreamed it. Who knows?

Maybe I was toking the same spliff, but I vaguely remember when Lauren was signed he was touted as a possible partner for Vieira...in central midfield. Interesting idea Val, like the Manchester scum did sometimes with K**ne and Gilberto was forced into a couple times. I've been moaning how Vieira really isn't playing as a shielding defensive midfielder. If he'd just do that I'd be happy.

Drugs or no, I remember this article as well. While I agree that Vieira has been less than stellar so far this year, I would not be in favor of moving him to CB. I still have hope that he'll regain his form and boss the middle like we're used to seeing him do.

The young guns are fine in mid-field. Move Vieira to the back line - good idea as Arsenal need HEIGHT back there anyway........

Why not? I think it might be a good move and increase the length of PV4 career....just a thought.

A brilliant idea, he just might be the target man we have been looking for. I know that Wenger has been talking about putting Ljungberg in goal. Hmmm...

yes we need an extremely aggressive bulldog like forward
and one who wont take any shit from the defenders
any talkback from the opposing team would result in a ball being thrown at the back of their head at the end of the game

Well, with the way things have worked out, using hockey terminology is as close as I'm going to get to professional hockey this year.

I don't know what people are smoking round here, but does anyone seriously want to take one of the best central midfielders in the world and stick him in our back line?

exactly! The ONLY reason I can see for sticking Paddy in the back line is an improvement in height. When we concede goals from set pieces/ corners he's going to be defending anyway, so it's a non-starter.
