I have not seen much of him but he does appear to be a 'tidy' player. He is neat and keeps the ball moving but nothing exceptional in my humble opinion (and bearing in mind my limited viewings of the player).

Anyone chosen for the Brazilian National Team at the World Cup is good enough for the English league. The question of course is whether they'll fit in to the new environment.

Ricardinho will do well as a complement to Juninho Paulista - he'll be an efficient 2-way midfielder, playing centrally for the most part I imagine - sort of like Juninho Pernambucano of Lyon (although I'm not about to claim he'll be as brilliant).

Of course, I don't know who he be fighting for spots against in this kind of position at Middlesborough.

Brazilian international Ricardinho joins Middlesbrough


LONDON, Feb 2 (Reuters) - Ricardinho, who played in three matches for Brazil in the 2002 World Cup, joined premier league Middlesbrough on Monday on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old midfielder has initially signed an agreement until the end of the season. The former Bordeaux, Corinthians and Sao Paulo player was a free agent.

Citadini said that Corinthians started to negociate the back of Ricardinho to his team. I would not be surprised if that happens. That s the only club that he played soccer well.

On the other hand, I dont think that he could help so much to take Corinthinas out of this bad situation.

I don't think Ricardinho can play for Corinthians this year. I heard there is some kind of clause on the contract with Sao Paulo that Ricardinho could not play for another Brazilian for one year from the date he leaves SPFC or else there is a big monetary compensation required payable to SPFC.
