Found out this morning that my wife and I are expecting a baby boy in April.

What names should I push?

Claudio?
Kasey?
Landon?

Maybe I should take recomendations, then set up a poll. I bet my wife would love that.

Eddie

We fielded 3 Eddies at one time against Panama (iirc). I'm guessing if you name your son Eddie, he's got a good chance of playing for the national team. ;)

Too bad it's not twins, then you could name them Lemonjello & Orangejello

Naah, then I would have gone with Judha and Micha, each with Cooks as middle names.

I'm planning on going with Landon Donovan McNabb Fowler when the time comes, myself.

Well, congrats to you first. As for a name, How about we go for a legendary name like Paul (as in Caligiuri)?

i was thinking about this when considering that Edson Buddle's dad named him after Pele. Since im only 16 now i concluded that if i were to name a son after a player id prob name him Landon cuz by the time im old enough to have a kid he will prob have made a huge impact on the game in the us more then tenfold what he has already done.

Lance, as in Armstrong.

Carlos sounds good too.

That way, when your boy is 15 he won't feel ashamed of being named after an old dude. Instead, he'll be named after the guy who brought the U.S. its repeat victories at the '14 and '18 World Cups. With this fame, your boy will have no problem breeding with the local cheerleaders, which is very important to his teenage happiness. You, in turn, will enjoy the pleasures of being a grandparent long before your other friends.

I'm touched, thinking about it.

Actually, the key part of the name is "ED"...thinking back over the USMNT player pool I recall..

Ed McIlhenny
Ted Eck
Eddie Pope
Eddie Gaven
Edson Buddle
Ed Johnson
Eddie Lewis
Ted Chronopolous

and of course, one day we can add...

Freddie Adu

Actually, the key part of the name is "ED".

Some others, all Hall of Famers:

Fred Beardsworth (New Bedford, Fall River, Robins Dry Dock Brooklyn)
Edward Glover (NY Giants, NY Americans, NY Brookhatten, Pfaelzer SC, Brooklyn FC)
Edward McIlevenny (probably the one referred to above) (Philadelphia Nationals, 1950 World Cup)
Ed Murphy (Maroons, Norwegian Americans, Mustangs)
Edson Arantes do Nascimento (NY Cosmos)
Edward Souza (Ponta Delgada, NY German-Hungarians, 1950 World Cup)

If you name him Sean Wheelock, I'm personally kicking your ass.

No offense to anyone with these names, but I think you should shy away from common names like Matt, Chris or Tom.

Instead, I think you should go with a unique name, something like:

Breck
Cal
Holden (Holden Caulfield- Catcher in the Rye)
Dyan

Just my thoughts.
