View Full Version : Will Thierry Henry become Arsenal's greatest ever goal-scorer this season?
Its only Ray Parlour

As of now, Thierry (legend!) has 170 goals to his name for Arsenal. The all-time record held by Ian Wright Wright Wright. Sorry. Is as i'm sure you all know, 185 goals.
I have no doubt he'll break Cliff Bastin's record of 178 goals this season to go second in the list. But will he get Wright's record?
I do believe that, if he's not already, he's very close to becoming the greatest player to ever grace the shirt.

If Arsenal do not slip up again, then he should definately break the record. However, his injury might require him to have a break at some point. If that happens, then I can't see him doing it.

I can't see him doing it this season. Next season certainly.
Henry is better than Wrighty anyhow. I know Gooners love Wrighty (it was funny that Wrighty got bigger cheers than Tony Adams at the latter testimonial!!) but Henry's all-round game is better.
I wonder how many goals Wrighty would score in the current Arsenal side (since Arsenal were average for much of Wrighty's time at the club)!!

I think he can get another ten in the league at least, there are still 21 games to go. Five in the Champions League and FA Cup depend on whether he plays in the Cup and how far we go in Europe, but it's definitely on.
Wrighty would score shedloads in this side, every ball coming into the box would be attacked, not like now where the ball goes in and there's a ring of players on the edge. He was absolutely lethal in the area and could score spectacular ones too, a great striker.

The rate he is scoring he should break it this season. He scored 40 last season and i think he will get into the hih 30's this season.
Ian Wright in the current team would be lethal - he would knock in another 30+. Wirghty scored for both good arsenal teams and bad and in sides that went 1 nil up then defended - his scoring record is considering the type of fottie we played back then. I think he hit 185 goals in 288 games...pure class.
I am suprised how quickly henry will reach the record considering he wasn't a striker he he signed for us.

I know Henry is a stud and will must assuredly surpass Wright's record. I heard that Ian was amazing. Too bad I never got to see his brilliance.
Btw, I would love to get a hold of either DVD or VHS tapes of Arsenal from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Versions that actually play on American VHS/DVD players. Please let me know where I can purchase these gems!

I think that if the injury doesn't flare up and he doesn't rest but 2 games he'll do it this season.
I don't remember Wrighty getting louder cheers at Adams testimonial, I mean, they were loud, but it wasn't the 5 minute O that Tone got when he came off.
