I just returned home from Nevada Smith's where I watched the Chelski game. FSW was filming there-let me just tell you about Stephen Cohen. Not only is he a pompous ************** (I overheard him speaking to the cameraman of which he said to him that he epitomizes what a true soccer phan is...I had to give him an Arnold Drummond), he was pissing in his pants the last 10 minutes crying like a little wankhole "Blow the damn whistle ref...why hasn't he blown the whistle!!!!...." I've never seen someone so stoked about a draw as he was. Finally after the whistle did blow, he tried to look confident but he was really just looking foward to cleaning his pants. Way to be confident, Stephen. BTW, if you are sweating us now, wait until we are full strength. Remember we haven't even hit the new year.

For the record, I think Fox Football Friday is a great move by FSW. However, they need to be less focused on Chelski and Liverpool. News should be as unbiased as it can be and as long as those Jabroni's are at the helm of that show it will continue to be mediocre.

Their show is a lame attempt at Skinner and Baddiel from England. Those guys are funny. Nick and Steven are, obviously, not (more like irritating).

Funny that accents gives these people (as well as Tommy Smyth and Nick Webster) football jobs in the U.S..

ding!ding!ding! we have a winner!

having a british accent in this country gets people jobs in all kinda sectors. The brits can say the same mindless crap we can say.. the accent just makes 'em sound smarter while doing it.
The same thing goes for the brits picking up american women- who, by the way, are huge suckers for accents.

It's no wonder I've spent so much time perfecting a scouser accent! :)
tally ho!

That'll impress the ladies. Better of with Geordie. At least then they wont understand you while you create an air of mistrust and villany :D

Gunner Phan, nice to meet you today. Thanks for saying hello. I do stand out in the yellow Wise jersey! But you're dead wrong. I'm not Cohen apologist but I overheard him say something similar many times during the day. What he was saying was, "This is was epitomizes a soccer fan." Or something along those lines. You have to admit Nevada's was electric today and I think that is what he was referring to.

As for their show. They aren't a news show. It's a soccer show. They aren't giving the news and don't pretend that they do. If it was a news show, the wouldn't wear their team shirts. It's a biased, opinionated show that you might not like if you support Man U or Arsenal (or MLS for that matter) but it's nice to see someone atleast have an opinion instead of the doubletalk you usually get on some of these shows.

Again, it was nice too meet you, thanks for saying hello and I am sure I'll see you again at Nevada's.

Watch FFF this week. They took a lot of tape.

Cohen too did an interview at halftime with a Chelsea fan and an Arsenal fan. I can't remember what the wording was but the Arsenal fan had a good rib in. All the Arsenal fans were laughing their asses off.

Nevada Smiths seems like a potential flash point. Have you seen many incidents between rival supporters?

Funny...I didnt even know I was utilizing the accent technique on the birds until I had to read a reply of my post...although I didn't write that post.... Thanks for the correction. I get a little dyslexic after a few pints. Bu then again, don't we all!?!

p.s. Nice avatar...now I wonder who that Goonner is...hmmmm....

I've been to Nevadas about a dozen times or so. Haven't seen anything get out of hand. But my friend who goes to NYU said he's seen a lot of incidents at night at Nevadas, but that's the NYU crowd, not the 7 am footy crowd.

I don't know how all of this so called "friendly banter" that goes on at Nevada Smiths is contained. Banter that goes on between rival supporters at my pub has very low limits. It gets very heated during ManU - Arsenal games, for instance.

Eddie,

Good to meet you too. Just because we support different teams does not mean we aren't both just footy fans at the end of the day. As for Cohen, he specifically said "I". I was standing next to him (I was up front to the left of the big screen where the cameraman was). Pompous A-hole.

I guess news show was a bad choice of words. I guess what I am saying is they are really limiting their potential audience suckin' on just Chelski and 'Pool's nutz. Make it a show for all teams, promote more than the red and blue, and make the show as good as it could be. I think it is a great idea, I just get tired of listening to them running their mouths.

I hope to see you again and maybe next time we can have that pint!

Not at ALL...We are ALL just having a laugh and enjoying a good game (better than I thought it would be!) Everyone stayed cool and realized that it was just a game, which actually added to the atmosphere. It's always better when everyone knows it's just for laughs. As much as Arsenal fans slag on Cohen, there were tons that said hello and good job. Because they recognize that it's all in fun. How boring would their show be if they didn't have an opinion. That's part of the schtick. Nevada's is FAR from a flash point. In fact, I think it's the opposite. It's where footie fans come together in unison, seperate into factions during the game and then reunite afterwards. 1 or 2 NY Gooners spoke to me after the game about the quality of the game. There were no hard feelings EVER taken. At one point, the Arsenal fans sang "Leave through the front door, you have to leave through the front door", etc. But none of use were worried about a fight because we all knew it was in fun.

I know what you mean...but Steven and Nick make no apologies for their show. In the words of a wise man, "It is what it is...".

I don't know whether or not you heard I or this or whatever. I can only go by what I heard and my many talks with Steven (he IS a good guy) and he's not the pompous twat he plays on TV. I honestly think it's part of his schtick. People tune in BECAUSE they think he is such an @sshole .

Guess we'll agree to disagree.

As for the pint, next I am there, I'll let you know and we'll Abso-********in-lutely have pint together.

Oy, were you sat on the floor in front of the big screen, wearing a red Arsenal woolen cap?

That was me...I think I even had to throw my hat a couple of times (damn Henry's miss in the 86th...). Were you near me?
