Who partakes in it? Here at Villanova it's taken off pretty big. Nothing like stalking friends of friends on the internet and trying to pad you ego by quantifying false relationships.
I love it!

I joined it out of curiosity but really haven't done anything with it. Feel a bit silly even doing that, as I'm not really a friend of people in, or a candidate for groups like "Nati Light Drinkers Association" and "I Heart The OC".

Oh, Jesus. That thing first hit here at Chicago around exam week of winter quarter last year. A LOT of people's GPAs dropped as a result. It's a weapon of mass procrastination.
At the same time, though, it's a very useful tool. More than one conversation I've had this year has entailed a friend talking about some girl he's met and ended with "Is she hot? Wait... to the facebook!"

Of course, at Chicago, its also the only fun thing that has happened at half a decade.

Yeah, that's about the one good use of Facebook.
I was one of the first 5-10 people at BC to have it (my friend who goes to Georgetown and is obsessed with it IMed me a few hours after they added BC), I absolutely love the people who have to show the world how many friends they have by adding every single person they've ever met, and they end up with like 400 "friends"...now at some schools everyone does that, so OK, but if you're at a school like BC where most people have 50 or so "friends" (in my case basically my close friends, anyone who added me, fake profiles that I thought were funny like Jesus, the Master Chief from HALO, etc., and some kid I can't stand but I added him because he was the only other person at BC that I knew that had it when I signed up), it kind of singles you out as a tool.
Of course, I made the mistake of making a seperate profile for Jack Daniels under my e-mail (BC has 3 or 4 different formats you can type your e-mail in, which means you can have as many Facebook profiles), so I'm getting 5-10 e-mails a day from college students across the country adding Jack Daniels as their friend.
