I don't know if I have asked this question ages ago, but was curious if Celtic still attracts and persues Irish footballers.

I imagine their first preference would be for Brazilians, but there is the matter of finances.

Was Scheidt not one of the players that Wanderley Luxemburgo (or another Brazilian coach) capped for the Brazilian national team in order to increase his transfer value?
There was some scandal at the time involving the coach colluding with a ton of agents and other related people to turn substandard players into internationals in order to sell them off to unsuspecting European clubs for a fortune.

Aye, he was. He capped loads of absolute losers so they could win lucrative contracts in Europe. I'm not sure if anything concrete came from it though.
Mind you, if European clubs are stupid enough to splash the cash just because a player's got an exotic name and a handfull of caps for Brazil.....

In recent years, Celtic has done very little for the Irish team. Healy and Miller have come and gone, but neither are established at international level.
McGeady is the only Republic of Ireland international who currently plays for Celtic.
Off hand, I can only think of one Irish-born youngster in the Celtic setup. That's Darren O'Dea.

Mickey Doyle came through the youth setup around the same time as Healy as well. He's now playing for Coventry.

Poor Healy, broke his leg again.
