It may be Goodbye Lauren too, if the story in the Sun is true. This is the quote from the BBC gossip page. "Real Madrid have dropped a bombshell on Arsenal by revealing Lauren will sign for them in January. (The Sun)"
In the Sun Article (http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-2004572198,00.html), Real President Perez is quoted saying that Lauren has already signed.

I don't get how a player can play for a club, then sign for another without the original club knowing... My mind is boggled.

If it was in the summer I'd believe it but in January ? highly unlikely besides he's one play that's never given an indication of wanting to leave and despite occasion lapses has given 100% always as he plays both RB and RW every game.

They can't!
They can only do this during the last 6 months of their contract and then leave at the end of their contract.
Clubs are supposed to approach the club not the player when still under contract.
Although its hard to believe a story from The Sun, Real Madrid are known for approaching players and breaking the rules but FIFA doesn't do anything about it (apart from bend over of course!)
Although many people don't like Lauren, I think he has been good over the last couple of seasons and I would like to see him leave on a bosman or cut price.

Excuse me for quoting my Football manager playing experiece, but on deals that are signed over 3 years, can't a player sign for a new club after the third year, even if he has a contract, with a tribunal set up to set the fee?
I don't know if this is Laurens situation, but one possibility.

anyone bother to actually read the article?
it says lauren will play for real next year. it also says his contract will expire in the summer. with 6 months or less left on a contract a player can sign a precontract. because of that, lauren could sign for madrid on jan 1.

I ask the same question as I did with Vieira, why would he want to go to a smaller club ?

So he can make less money, and win less trophys, of course.

Can we all agree to stop using The Sun as a source for transfer gossip? Obviously it's made up. I don't understand how Great Britain can allow media to "quote" Perez for saying something he obviously never said, because if he had said it, the Sun would be the last "news" outlet to know about it.
I'm assuming based on past history, though. Can anyone at all find a spanish source for that quote--preferably one that doesn't cite The Sun?

I hope this isn't true, Lauren has been one our best players this season. Not only don't we have the right back-up, there isn't a better right-back on the market.

"Meanwhile, Perez hinted he will use underhand tactics to bolster the Real ranks in the future after complimenting Arsenal manager Wenger's transfer dealings.
He added: 'Whatever we do in the transfer market we will just let Arsenal show us who their targets are and then go after them ourselves.
'Wenger doesn't seem to make many mistakes.' "
Thats a bizarre quote.

You're all forgetting one thing. It was The Sun. England's version of the National Enquirer. They would probably also say Lauren was abducted by aliens.

Please excuse my ignorance (and this may be a better YA question), but does anyone know if either Danny Karbassiyoon or Frankie Simek have ever played right back?

No one ever won the league in december, but you'll have to take my word for that, after all you've never seen your team win it in may!!, unless of course you're 50!
