Just a question about rumours anyone has heard for sites of the GC in the US in July.

We have had posters here mention an announcement at a Columbus Crew home match that matches would be there there, another pointing out advertising at Giants Stadium, and initial indications Miami was involved (including for the final). Anything further? Would they consider FieldTurf or other artificial surfaces? Any predicitions as to where the 3 groups of 4 would be placed?

Apart from Home Depot (but I sense it is going to be all east of the Rockies) and the Crew Stadium, will there be any other Soccer-Specific stadiums ready in the States by summer?

Hopefully Canada gets site(s) within a reasonable driving distance of home.

....Something Like This ( a VERY wild stab) would be nice:

Group A (Miami and Atlanta)

USA
South American Guest (Colombia, Venzuela, Australia?)
T&T
Costa Rica

Group B (Houston and Dallas)

Mexico
Martinique
Guatemala
Honduras

Group C (Columbus and New York)

South Africa
Canada
Jamaica
Panama

First of all Australia is not South America.

I guess the easiest group would be Group C and i'm not sure which is the group of death. I mean you got USA, CR, and which ever south american team will tough and in group be You got Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. I guess Group B would be the group of death, Mexico will easily walk pass this teams. but group A would be unpredictable.

I heard that the owner of the Rapids put in a bid or something to have a few games in Denver. I also thought I read something about Seattle, but maybe I'm wrong about that one.

There was a link on the US Mens board saying that Seattle was probably going to get some games.

Also I thought I remembered reading a press release that had South Africa as one of the guest teams to the tournament this time around:

Martinique? You have Martinique in the Gold Cup? 1, Martinique would get killed by teams like Barbados, Haiti, and St. Kitt's and Nevis. 2, They already got knocked out by Cuba. Have you been keeping track with the digicel cup lately?

I think the groups would be like that. You got the main teams concentrated in groups b and a, while group C are a group of under achievers.

If the groups were to end like like that.

My guess is that Mexico will leave the other 3 teams in shame. It'll be like a walk in the park. Guatemala will probably advance as the second place team for group B, while Hounduras will advance as the second best 3rd place.

Group A will be the group of death. With the USA advancing as the first place. and the south american team advancing as second (unless the guest is Argentina, Paraguay or Uruguay, then the USA will get a whipping they'll never forget.) Costa Rica advancing as the best 3rd place.

Group C: It'll be hard to predict who would en first, but my guess is that South Africa and Panama will advance, If Jamaica beats Panama and goes to the quarter finals, everyone will question if Panama actually deserves to be in the hexagonal or if it was just luck.
