Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated he will not be dipping into the transfer market in January in order to bolster his goalkeeping options.
Jens Lehmann was recently dropped following a dip in form and his replacement, Manuel Almunia, has failed to impress during the German's absence.
The Spaniard has made a series a blunders during his short spell between the sticks after allowing David Bellion's effort to slip through his fingers while also flapping at a cross against Rosenborg.
Some feel Lehman might be recalled for Arsenal's table-topping clash against Chelsea on Sunday, however Wenger will not be getting out the chequebook come the New Year.
"I don't feel it will be necessary to bring in a new goalkeeper in January, not at all," explained Wenger to the Evening Standard.
Third choice keeper Stuart Taylor is currently on loan after falling down the pecking order at The Gunners and may be recalled should Wenger want an alternative to Lehmann or Almunia.

This is one (maybe the only) of the downfalls of having a players' manager. He rarely says anything bad about anyone (at least publically). In this case it sucks as a fan because he leaves you with no hope of buying a better keeper.
However I think hes just trying to motivate them and its all talk. If the goalies keep up there form, he would have no trouble buying a goalie.

Honestly who can he sign in January that will not be cuptied? There isn't a quality keeper out there to sign in January. Maybe Andreas Issakson(Swedens GK) but he just signed with Rennes.

Ok, it's official. AW, is NOT only drinking the Kool-Aid, but he is serving it at the refreshment stands of Highbury!!! I never question his genius, but he has left genius and gone diretly into the realm of nutters.

I Think no one is available to bring in right outside of Van der sar who actually might not be bad but he probably knows he also needs midfield and defenders in the window so he's trying to boost the confidence of those keepers he had. It's Clear both will last until the summer at least clear to me but I might be seeing it differently.
I Think he makes his move then and yes sadly, it'll be yet another foreign bloke who's less then top tier but Arsene sees coming good.
Maybe he'll strike gold this time around.

I would enthusiastically welcome the arrival of Van der Sar, who i recently thought was one of the world's best keepers. Anyone know what exactly led up to his benching at Fulham? I mean Crossley isn't exactly a world beater i don't think.
Incidentally, I'd be fine with Lehmann between the posts. He's made a few mistakes lately yeah, but not nearly at the rate of Alumnia... what is this, 4 straight games with a costly or hugely noticable blunder? The second Chelsea goal was a relatively easy save for most, his feet got real heavy real quick. At least Lehmann has proven he can be world class but has just hit a bit of a rough stretch.
Granted he did make a few timely and impressive saves today, but at this level (one lehmann weakness obviously) you can't give regular howlers no matter how huge you come up with the spectacular. For the very same reason I miss Cudicini in Chelsea's net, as he was good for about 1 every 3rd game. Those make the difference and I think Chelsea would be just a point or two ahead of us without Cech.

Big money, Antti Niemi. Southampton will take it, no doubt. He turned in another blinder on Saturday only for his defenders to have shockers in the last couple of minutes. Stop messing about AW!

Lets stick with Lehman. Almunia is a good back up but not good enough to start. I still don't know why Taylor hasn't had a chance (Like bob wilson said - taylor should have suceeded seaman)
