............buy a West Ham shirt today, who's name would you put on the back?
you must have a current player.
they must play for us.
you must pick someone.

I think I would go for Rebrov, I have a feeling it's going to work out for him and us on this side of London. Just a feeling.

What a great question NOH.

The one I currently have is the 1995 'Centenary' shirt which has our club captain's name and '11' on the back.

I've had a think about it and I'd probably go for 'Repka'.

My reasons being that I used to wear the No.2 in my playing days and like him I am prone to the occasional costly error but it doesn't make me want to give up.

I'm also a big, ugly bugger with a bad temper but that's where the similarity ends.
(Honest!!)

Interestingly I was in the West Ham shop at Lakeside last week and, having completed a Christmas shopping marathon, I decided to treat myself to something.

I chose the 1964 replica shirt with no name, just a big No.6 STITCHED onto the back of it.

I'll make do with that for the forseeable future.

Brilliant question NOH, and one I've been thinking about (in between actually doing some work!) all afternoon. And I still can't really answer it because I just don't know how long we're gonna hang onto some of our, shall we say, better players, and I'm not sure I could say who out of our team really is proud to play for West Ham United. Funnily enough I did momentarily consider Repka too, or even Christian Dailly (Football Genius), but the sad reality is I'd probably go "retro" and have either 4 Bonds or 10 Brooking. Or even 10 Di Canio (I know I know). Sad state of affairs no one player springs readily to my mind at the moment...

But that could of course change when one of them sticks a hattrick past Leeds tonight! (fickle? me? nah!)

Hmmm, good question. Probably have to go with one of the yongsters, say NRC, Fletcher maybe, even Noble.

I think it says something about the current state of our squad that not many of us can come up with an instant and solid answer.

Since many of us on here can remember the 'old days' (about 25+ yrs ago) do you think we would have had the same trouble answering back then?

Mark - do you know if today's game is being shown at any pubs such as Scaliwags here?

I would have to go with Ethers - I just love watching him tear down the wing and deliver crosses!

Christian Dailly.

Big, lumbering center back that plays with heart. All things I think I had when I played. Except he has some skills and I dont.

147 took the words out of my mouth here. For me Etherington is the most commited player on our squad. He is only a small lad but isn't scared of terrorising those big defenders when he runs diagonally or cuts square.

However like some other posters here I have already gone retro. During the summer I bought a Bobby Moore 1958 first shirt shown (hopefully) below as I have been really learning to appreciate some of our legendary players of the past lately. This is a cracking shirt and has practically been my second skin since I got it. BTW anyone thinking about getting one of these please note they are cotton and not that silky stuff that normal tops are made of.

Sx. Are you sure this isn't the shirt you got? Mine has a number 6 on the back but is 1958.

I think I'd get "BROWN OUT" as my name plate, 6 as my number.

Any jersey with the number 6 must, by law, have the name Jonathan E. on it. Oh, yeah, I'd get Repka's shirt for all the reasons stated above. Seriously.

Iv'e thought long and hard about this excellent question NOH, but the only person I would have on the shirt is Mavis the tea lady, as she's the only consistent team member we have, Brown out and long live Mavis!!
UP THE HAMMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to tell you Brian but I've heard that Mavis has put in a transfer request, she says it's always been here ambition to serve tea and biscuits in European competition.

Rumour has it that we're going to replace her with Britney from AFC Bournmouth, she's a lot younger but apparently has talent and has attracted interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton but she's always been a West Ham fan so we're in with a good chance.

I don't know what to say Rob, I'm devastated at hearing this news, she was the backbone of our club, how can Brown even think of letting her go, the bastard he is!!
