Ok so I am not sure of the exact stat, but Arsenal has only lost twice in there last 55(?) premiership games. These have been the only Arsenal games available on Pay Per View, and I ordered both. I am superstitious and it seems whenever I don't watch on PPV we pick up points. Should I take one for the team and not watch, or should I move past the superstition and not miss what could be the best game of the year? Im pretty torn on what I should do.

Watch the game, if you want to. What are you going to do? Not watch every game that comes on PPV for the forseeable future?

I suppose there are players who get superstitious about some trifling detail, and if it makes them feel better, well, let them have their superstitions. You, you're not playing. The game is not turning on whether you pay out for the game.

I bought a sweet new Arsenal hat that got delivered a few days before the ManU game. I wore the hat. Arsenal lost.

The hat has not been back on my head since. It's stupid, but I'm not chancing it.

I wore this year's red home kit for the ManU match at OT, since then I have been wearing the yellow away strip. No more red on match days.

The one time that I went to see Arsenal play at the Brewhouse in Atlanta, they lost, so I have not been back since. Now I either watch on FSW or follow on line if the game is not on tv......

Rob:
I keep making excuses about why I can't watch the matches at the Brewhouse-most are legitmate but for this weekend I am not taking any chances! Cue the Stevie Wonder please......

I'll also be shaving my head Friday night. The Arse generally scores a couple post haircut, so I figure they need it more now than ever.

Great thread idea...

I don't wear my home John Terry shirt anymore for the same reason. I also have to wear my Eagles hat with it for luck. It'll be double luck on Sunday since both my teams play that day.

Great thread idea indeed. :)

I don't wear my autoglass jersey to go watch league matches anymore, and I have a blue ribbon bracelet that I have to wear else we get poor results. Also, my lucky necklace, which I have worn all my life on various gamedays, personal or otherwise.

At least you got to see them whip Everton for free!

I've stopped now, but a while ago, I made sure not to shave for 3 or 4 days before a United match and it worked well at first but then we lost so I've stopped... but I've got one now so if u guys and chelsea drop points this weekend I'd find it hard to shave ever again...

Last year I started wearing my Penn St hat after the New England loss. They didn't lose again until the NFC Championship game. That was my lucky item last year.

It's funny you should bring this up now, But after years of using the same 'lucky' turnstile at Highbury, I decided that due to our recent dip in form I would change to another for the Birmingham game, low and behold we won, so as you do, I decided to use the new lucky turnstile again on tuesday, despite the queue being longer, so as my Friends who used the old turnstiles were sitting comfortabally in their seats at the time of the first goal, the new talisman of the group was still in the tunnell beneath the stand, still we got the result, which of course, was all down to me :)

I've also got a wardrobe full of lucky T-shirts bought for cup semi finals and finals that we've lost in, I'll have to part with them one day I suppose

Haha Lanesra what is your 'new' lucky turnstile? Cause I know for the last two games I was at I used different ones though I did keep the jersey I wore the same.

That's really been my one superstition. For most of our unbeaten run I wore my unnamed and numbered home jersey from last season, after the loss at OT I've been switching it up and this weekend I'll probably wear the DB10 one I picked up when I was at Highbury this past week/weekend.

I didn't was my jersey during the whole winning streak. As soon as they lost I retired the jersey and washed it right away.

Same was going for this years red jersey, but after Liverpool I ran to the wash machine and washed the evil out of it and now I'm onto the blue jersey. Can't lose or I take the old jersey out of retirement and start wearing it again. I have to have it blessed before I can do that. :D

In the west stand upper, there's 3 turnstiles straight ahead, I now use the left one, as for you using different turnstiles, I told you, it's all down to me :)

An Eagles fan, a Penn State fan AND a Chelsea supporter?!?! Man, talk about three strikes! ;)

As for my rituals, we were unbeaten when I would watch a match at Piper's in Pittsburgh. I also would always wear my DB10 shirt with my Steelers hat and that did the trick. Since moving here, though, all of my rituals are now in the experimental phase. I tried wearing my FA Cup t-shirt to the gym during the week before a big match, but then came the loss at Old Trafford and I scrapped that. I will say though that, since I got together with my girlfriend the day after the Liverpool match, Arsenal's unbeaten and both the club and I have been scoring a lot more, so maybe she's my good luck charm! :D

Funny you mention that. I am in my 3rd year of Statistics in University and I never gamble because I personally have calculated the odds. Yet when it comes to Sports teams, I throw away my natural statistical instincts(I am normally a statistican through and through). I agree with the poster who mentioned that if your a player it may matter but as a fan it shouldn't. Yet I continue to be superstitous even as a fan.

I still regret watching game 7 of the Stanley Cup final at a pub, versus my basement where the Flames were 3-0 for the playoffs. :(

Although no one has given me any advice in particular, I am going to elect NOT to order the game and see what happens. If we win, it will be a long time before I order PPV again. If we lose I will start ordering again.

My O2 shirt has now been relegated to the cupboard, and the naff dreamcast one reinstated, I might have to go further back if we don't win on sunday...

Oh, and we never score when I'm listening to the game on Radio 5, not even if I have a lucky half time beer...
