I think Leverkusen are now officially "real" legitimiate contenders for the Champions League trophy. They've scored some fantastic goals and play strong attacking ball; I have little doubt that they will appear in the quarter finals.

surely way to go bayer, last season i had high expectations and you disappointed me now you are playing brilliantly, great to see. i think leverkusen despite playing well at this time of the champ league some how they will have to be at thier best against other europe`s best. this current teams brings back memories of your all conquering squad that reached the 2001finals that had the likes of ballack, basturk, lucio etc.
which reminds, why did you guys let the brilliant basturk leave, also why don`t you play with a three prolonged attack that ha franca, ponte and the sharp shooting bulgarian front runner Dimitar Berbatov, one player i rate so highly and would love to see him at camp nou. jens nowotny seems to be at full fitness after struggling with injuries the past season.
i also have high hopes in the bavarians of munich to go all the way hopefully we can avoid them in the quarters.

This squad is far from the great one of 2002. They have an entirely different style of play and the talent is not as good.
Basturk left as he was asking for a transfer since Ballack and Ze Roberto left.
Concerning a three prong attack, this wouldn't suit Leverkusen's current formation as their defense is a little shakey at times especially with Schneider playing as RB, Ponte has also been total crap since the first CL against Real Madrid.

But oh Landon Donovan is going to change that. ;)

I think Landon is walking into a great opportunity. Supposing he plays well, with Donovan's skill and hard work ethic, he might be the missing piece to solidifying the Leverkusen midfield. It's exciting to see what LD will bring to the club!!
GO LEVERKUSEN!!!!!!!!!!!11
