Don't expect any youngsters in the side right now. The next three matches plus the Palace match will determine what will happen to this club for the rest of the season. As you may know the club has only had one season in the last eleven where the club finished with a winning record for the second half of the season whether it was the Premiership or the level below it.

Jerome Thomas was given a chance because it was a cup competition and he had a very good match which allowed him to get a league match. I seriously doubt that any of our youngsters were playing as well as he has.

Expect your bench to include Euell for his duel roles in the midfield and striker. Konchesky because he can play left back or midfield. The final spot will probably go to Stuart or Hughes.

All in all, with the injuries to JJ, Lisbie, Perry and Fish, Alan will have a much easier time at picking his starting eleven and may keep him from to position players out of their natural positions (i.e. Rommedahl and El Karkouri).

The Baggies are doing poorly and we're coming off of a great victory. This could be a chance to not only win, but to score a batch of goals and get that goal difference lowered.

I'm picking the boys to take this one 3-0 with Rommedahl scoring/assisting on two of those. I hope I'm right ........

I agree with you kev. It will probably be Stuart in that final sub spot since he scored for the reserves last night.

If Bartlett doesn't get it done in the first half, I would really like to see Jeffers come on, giving Rommedahl a chance to show us his service.

I would say, 2-0 to the Addicks.

West Brom 0-01 Charlton Athletic

Another road victory. Yes, against the worst team in the Prem, but a road win is a road win. You do have to go out and win the matches no matter which club you are playing against.

Holland gets his first goal of the season. Sounded like we should have had at least one more goal, maybe two. Bartlett apparently missed a great opportunity when Thomas sent in a very good cross in the first half.

Murphy had another good game. I make that three in a row for him.

Rommedahl got through 85 minutes. Hopefully he is playing his way into a better understanding of how to play for the Addicks and Curbs. If he can bookend to Thomas' play, that would be excellent.

Thomas also seemed to have another good game using his pace and crossing ability to make some chances and help keep possession.

I listened to the match on WBA Radio. The commentators were full of praise for Thomas's drive & pace & for the Skipper's quiet control of mid-field. The Guardian/Observer match report, positive after many weeks of whinging at the Addicks & the Manager, was also keen on Murphy. Nobody could believe Bartlett missed that shot at goal, on Thomas' perfect cross - something about it being harder to miss than make. But No Rue, No Woeful this week. 3 Points Away - 8th in the Table. Are Charlton in that confident "Find a Way to Win" mode?

I've got to say, I'm proud of the Addicks! They are inching their way back up the table, basically unnoticed. I'd like to see them step up one or two more notches and get ahead of Pool or Villa! Go you Addicks!

Go Addicks! I expect nothing but heart and complete effort in every game. And I hope for the best. We may not be a fifth place team when all is said and done, but that is what I hope for this club.

Next up, Fulham at the Valley.

I think that this match has come to signify the character of Charlton. Usually there is one easy chance that is missed. The team has a strong workrate and when they play well, simply out work their opponets. Because they do not have a game changing player (for the moment) when the team does not play well, it can get ugly.
