Paulo Diogo, who was recently married, set up his team's third goal. So he jumps up on the perimiter fence. His wedding ring gets caught as he tries to jump off and tears the top two joints of his ring finger off!

It gets worse...

After he gets down, (He has a bloody stump for a finger), the ref gives him a yellow card for excesive celebration!

Later, at the hospital, doctors were unable to reatatch his finger so they chop off the rest of his stump.

Not sure if he got his ring back from the crowd....

Holy crap! That sucks!

You are allowed to wear wedding rings. Its the one bit of jewellery you are allowed to wear. But you are meant to tape them up.

But EURGGHHH poor guy!!

He's on Servette of the Swiss Super League.

An article on soccernet: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=318488&cc=5901

There is also a thread on the referee forum (Jewelry) and on the Swiss/Austrian forum on this incident.
