The important question everyone should be asking and pondering, is how much of an impact will Landon have on Bayer Leverkusen? I think he would do well as an attacking midfielder. Time will tell. I wish him only the best in the Bundesliga. Make the USA proud.

Most sensible post on Donovan joining Leverkusen.

I think the #10 was written into his contract to come back.

Well I'll have to wait and see which number it is then.

wont be the 20, coz thats the number of the 2nd goalie.
free numbers in the Leverkusen squad: 2, 23, 24, 26, 27 and all numbers higher than 30 (except Placente's 35)

I bet he goes for 23.

I am rather interested to see how Donovan does. He probably should have gone earlier - he's going to develop more against a higher level of competition, which Germany provides and the MLS doesn't.

I don't know about that.he has developed pretty damn well in MLS.Remember that by being in the US, he was available for every USA game.

he scored two goals and had another wrongfully disallowed at the world cup. that is considerably better than the whole france team did, right? he isn't going to get any better playing there in germany. if anything, he will be less effective for the usa team now. he will be tired, over trained, in a foreign environment, and ultimately less effective.

I don't know, German soccer can be kind of wierd but I think that it definitely suits him and I don't think that he was getting worse in MLs he just got complacent and plus he needs to tune up for 06'. I hope he plays well.

That's right. In fact he'll only get worse playing with the likes of Berbatov, Babic, Schneider, etc.

i'm just wondering if he's even going to play. don't want him to be another mathis...go with great hopes, come back discredited as a striker.

Donovan is already the best American player; he'll do fine. Berbatov messed up in the last Champions League game where he missed a breakaway, I think Landon would have buried that.

Landon is a REAL good player.I would not mention him today in the same breath as Mathis.
