Now If only MLS teams were involved. Then I'd be really interested.

If they had over fifty thousand there for the matches last year, how many do you think they could have for the finals?
I know some will depend on what teams end up there. I'd like to get some good tickets for myself.

Interesting tidbit from the article:
Earlier rounds of the Interliga will be played in San Jose, Calif., Carson, Calif., Dallas, San Antonio, and Phoenix.
Looks like Spartan Stadium, The Home Depot Center, The Cotton Bowl, the Alamo Dome and Bank on Ballpark.

Just FYI:
As a precursor, two teams that may end up at Reliant Stadium, Club America and Santos, will play in a friendly at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 at Robertson Stadium. Tickets are available at Taqueria Arandas and Fiesta markets. From today's Glenn column (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/soc/2943243)Mmmm...Taqueria Arandas...
Btw, I guess this schedule (http://www.interliga.com/2005/display.php?language=esp&category=002) means that the groups are:
America, Toluca, Necaxa, Jaguares
and
Chivas, Tigres, Santos, Atlante
I suppose the best-case scenario for attendance on Jan. 12 would involve America, Toluca, Chivas and Tigres. I think that would get a big house, even on a Weds night. The worst-case scenario would probably be Necaxa, Jaguares, Santos, Atlante - that would probably look more like a Rice or UH home game. ;)

A couple more Interliga-related bits:
Today's Soccer Hour with Glenn Davis (5 p.m., KPFT 90.1 FM) features Lone Star Sports and Entertainment executive Jamey Rootes on the upcoming Interliga and L.A. Galaxy midfielder Josh Gardner. From today's Glenn Davis column in the Chron (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/soc/2952936). (The show streams live over the internet, and is also available on archive, at www.kpft.org.)
Also: Article about yesterday's game at Robertson (http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/soc/2954423) featuring America and Santos.
And as long as we're at it, there's also a nice piece in the Chron by John Lopez about inner-city youth and soccer in Houston:

I picked up my tickets yesterday. $25 for a ticked behind the goal (i prefer that view to the sideline view and the price is better) directly from the stadium box office, thus negating the ticketbastard charges. Good price for 2 games. Section 137 row S, seats 1 and 2. Anybody else here going, It would be nice to meet some other houston area BSers.

The InterLiga will come to Houston again on Jan. 4 at Reliant Stadium. It's a doubleheader with Cruz Azul x Necaxa and Chivas x Tigres.
They'll get a nice crowd with Chivas and Tigres, so hopefully Oliver Luck can persuade Jamey Rootes to do some cross-promotion with MLS Houston, or at least get a good deal to blare some announcements.

Glenn Davis discusses the upcoming InterLiga games in Houston in his column in today's Chron:
InterLiga bringing top Mexican players (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/soc/3553397.html)
The top-rate Mexican First Division, much like the EPL, relies on contributions of non-Mexicans to bring the league to a higher standard of play.
...
Many will argue that this influx of non-Mexican talent hurts the country's national team. They might be right.
National team coaches such as England's Sven Goran Eriksson and Mexico's Ricardo La Volpe lament the fact that these players take valuable playing time in key roles away from natives, but it is all just an exercise in futility.

I'll be working at Reliant that night to promote Team Houston. I am recording the USC-Texas Title Game and will avoid all TV's that night till I get home. I just hope that on the ride home I won't see any down and out Longhorn fans or Longhorn fans partying like its 1999! That's the trick!

It' really the poveity of MLS helps develop the national team faster and better then if we where spending $$$ on foregin players like have the people on these boards want MLS to do.

Just more FYI in case anyone missed it - Glenn will probably be giving away some free tickets on his radio show Tuesday night (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285078).
...
Here's a good overview from Bernardo Fallas in Tuesday's Soccer Page in the Chron:
