Charlton linked with Racing's Lopez

Charlton are on the verge of making an offer for the Argentinian league's top scorer Lisandro Lopez, according to the players' agent. Fernando Hidalgo claims the Addicks are ready to swoop for Lopez, who has scored 11 goals in 17 games for mid-table Racing Club in the Apertura.

'They (Charlton) are closely following his performances because they want to sign him by the end of the year,' said Hidalgo.

'They haven't made an official offer yet, but that should arrive in the next few hours.'

The striker is valued at more than £3.5million, who has been linked with possible moves to Dynamo Kiev, Shakhtar Donetsk and Brazilian side Corinthians in recent weeks.

I think that would be great to get him.

Addicks also still interested in Bent of Ipswich. Story goes that Charlton will give Ipswich some money and Stuart Graham for young Mr. Bent.

Some how I expect us not to get this guy. I bet he won't qualify for a work permit. The club went after a Brazilian-Japanese National after the World Cup and the Home Office turned down his request for a work permit. Has anyone looked to see if he has played in 75% of Argentina's National team matches (and friendlies don't count) in the last year?

Don't be surprised if Chelsea doesn't come in and outbid us. They seem to like to ruin our lives.

I somehow think we won't get Darren Bent. A lot of people associated with Ipswich seems to think we've screwed them over with the cut rate purchases of Hreidarsson and Holland (Holland wouldn't sign with Pompey even though they offered more than Charlton did).
