Here it is. Another match against an opponent we should defeat. I hope Ruud is fit for this one, he needs a hattrick or something to help the team break out of its funk.

I cannot imagine what the starters will be because we don't know if SAF is still punishing Giggs for not signing a new contract and if he will rest Ronaldo now, or later.

Saha picked up his usual knock playing for France and is doubtful for this game....and who knows how many more...

Louis Saha will miss Saturday's home game against Charlton - and is likely to be out for the next three weeks.

That was the bad news delivered by Carlos Queiroz, deputising for Sir Alex Ferguson in the regular Friday press briefing. However, there was some good news regarding United's quartet of strikers - Ruud van Nistelrooy trained

Some how I think that saha probabley would not have started anyway. So an injury now seems to be more a depth issue than anything. Hopefully he is back soon though, we have many games coming up before Christmas in the CL, league, cup games, etc...

Ruud should start if he is healthy, but alongside who? I heard Rooney did not really behave himself too well in Spain, plus there is the fatigue issue. So I'd like Smith to start. He has scored a few goals, always has a lot of drive and fire in him, and he should be getting more time.

These are the players available for selection: (from premierleague.com)
Manchester United (from): Carroll, Howard, Ricardo, G Neville, P Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, Brown, O’Shea, Heinze, Fortune, Ronaldo, Bellion, Keane, Scholes, Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson, Fletcher, Giggs, van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Smith, Saha.
The article says Saha will be out for at least three weeks but at the same time they have Saha in the provisional squad. Weird.

Weird? Or typical journalism?

Both. News sources should update the info previously posted when they are reporting something that happened more recently. But that is how journals make money.

My starting XI would be:
----------------Carroll----------------
G.Neville--Ferdinand--Silvestre--Heinze
Ronaldo---Keane---Scholes---Fortune
----------Rooney---Smith------------
Rest Ruud for the CL or play him if we need goals. SAF look is punishing Giggs for not signing contract extension, so I choose Fortune who might be a better option than Fletcher or Miller as left midfield.

With what went on with Rooney mid-week, I think he will either have a dominate preformance or completly disappear, no middle ground.

It does not really matter if we get stuck in or play flowing soccer. I want the three to keep the momentum going from the Newcastle result last gameweek.

Setting my alarm to "Wake-to-ManU" .. wife is gonna be pissed, oh well. I hope to see this line up:

----------------Carroll----------------
G.Neville--Ferdinand--Silvestre--Heinze
Fletcher---Keane---Scholes---Giggs
----------Rooney---Smith------------

- subs: Ronaldo, Bellion, or whoever for late goals

I think SAF should bench Ronaldo for doing his tricks in the corner of the field and forgetting he's actually playing with 10 other teammates. Super dribbler and I love that, but pass the ball and get it in the back of the net faster. Also, Rooney has to stop shooting from 40 yards out and look for a forward.

Decision to buy Saha, and not Robben, is looking increasingly stupid, isn't it (and don't tell me we didn't know he'd be injured - he's been injury prone all his career)?

Oh well. I want to see:

--Ruud--Rooney--
Giggs-Scholes-Keane-Fletcher
Heinze-Silv-Rio-Neville
------Carroll----------

Bench:

Ronaldo, Kleberson, Brown, Howard, Spector
