Hey all. I know there are some computer wizards around here, and I was wondering if anyone could answer a question. I'm trying to take tracks from CD's I own, and download them to my computer so I don't have to carry a million cd's with me when I want to listen to music. Is this possible and if so, how the heck do you do it?

Thanks!

All you need is a program like RealOne or Windows Media Player and it is fairly simple. You just record the CD onto your PC.

If you had a Mac, you'd have iTunes bundled with your computer. All you do is pop in a CD and click the "import" button. But what do I know anyway?

iTunes rocks. It's MEGA easy to import MP3's.

Damn am I glad I made the switch.

CDex is pretty good for Windows, too. RealOne isn't that great, because the basic version only rips at up to 96 kbps. There used to be a free plug-in to get higher-quality MP3s, but that went away when they switched from RealJukebox to RealOne.

Does Exact Audio Copy convert directly to MP3, or just to .WAV?

I downloaded the Musicmatch jukebox freeware, but I can't see how to make MP3's off of CD tracks. It'll convert MP3's to WAV and vice versa. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

to mp3
it's also vairable output, so it encodes at the best rate every second
