He's only 19, and doesn't have a ton of highlights yet.
The Manchester United website has some vid of him in action but I think you have to pay to see it.
Look for a Bittorrent of the Champions League match btwn. Man U vs. Fenerbache where he scored a hattrick and that will be enough.

Seen a lot of 18 year olds as strong or technically as good as rooney, have you?

If you're looking for someone who's overrated then look no further than Freddy Adu.

Good point erictheking. I've never seen another player so young that has made international defenders look scared.

hey, but you have to give freddy a break..... there is a huge difference between 19 and 15.

Please don't even try to tell me you're insinuating that Freddy has half a chance of being as good as Rooney. Yes there is a difference between 15 and 19 but at 17 Rooney was scoring against Arsenal in the EPL while Freddy will still be warming the bench in DC.

if any of you know kevin anderson..an ex. mls player he coaches now for columbia univ. in ny. well i know him and the other coach on columbia i was talking to and he said he coached freddy @ regionals for u-13..and the coach sed he was aaround 15 then..because at the hotel all the u-13 year old kids were haningn while freddy wus gone chasing girls around and swimmming w/ them...so the coach said to me hes a good player but not a Great player..so if u do the math by now he wuld be about 19-20 years of age (thts wut the coach told me)

Rooney is top class and will continue to progress as long as he doesnt get injuried or side tracked with a fast lane life style. In a few years he will easily be among the top players on the planet, I have never seen a player with his ability and skill at 18 considering he stage he plays on, he can make top defends look like sunday league players with the ball at his feet, and his shooting ability with both feet is insane.

The only young player that I saw put the fear of God in peoples eyes like Wayne was (pre injuires) Ronaldo at Barca when he was like 19 or 20 years old, he would have been the best player to ever play the game had he not blown out his knee twice inside of a year and a half.

I am not sure why people wants to jump on the "overhyped" bandwagon with Rooney. I feel everything he has done to this point in his very young career warents the praise.

I am sick of hearing about Adu in all aspects; I could care less how old he really is, how good he really is or what he is doing at DCU. When he gets a few years under his belt and makes an ipmact on the big stage talk to me but right now all he is a marketing tool with a decent left foot tht wins all-star selections based on putting a$$es in seats instead of playing well. At least Santino who I hate as a person deserved his all-star selection as a rookie from his play on the field.

If you want to look at young talent making an impact in the MLS that will help our national team look at Eddie Johnson, he's the real future for our forwards

Just so everyone knows, I don't like Adu, I'm a Metro fan, but I think all this bashing is getting to be too much. Did this coach give any reason for why he thought Adu was 15 then?

whoever said he's overhyped is completely wrong just because he doesnt score doesnt mean he has class performances every time he steps on the pitch.

I think that Rooney is a good player. And i think he will be a FANTASTIC player in a few years time. Everton are a great club. But he's at a good club now that can help him to improve and grow into an even better player.

The trouble with the English press is they do tend to get a little 'over excited' yes Rooney is a good player. But he could do without the pressure that the press are putting on his shoulders.

I think that Rooney enjoys performing on the bigger stage. He seems to thrive on it more. And thats probably why he hasnt scored as many goals as he could have. But he young and the good news is he can only get better.

If you want some more information on him then you can maybe try the Manchester United website or just type in Wayne Rooney in the google search engine.

And what was Henry doing? he wasn't even beginning to get to his current form until his early 20's..

the point: it is very hard to predict how a player will develop, especially while they are teens..

Agreed but in his Early 20's where was Henry playing and what country was he winning the world cup with. BTW wasn't the cm of that unnamed country one of the best to ever play the game oh yeah I'm sure some of that hasn't rubbed off. Also the fact he won Euro 2000 wow what a ************ resume!!! And this coming from someone who hates Henry France and Arsenal!!!!!

i said in my post the coach thought he wus 15 wen he wus playing u-13 but now hes 19

thought? so because Freddy liked girls and swam with them at the hotel, while the other u-13 kids went back to their rooms and yanked their wankers, Freddy had to be 15?? that's truly the dumbest logic i've ever heard in my life. memo to you and the coach who told you this absolute drivel ............. many boys like girls at 12 and 13.
