Not a lot of people are acquainted with what has been one of the World's best clubs in the past 5 years. Here is an introduction to most of their key players, translated from Depor's web site. These guys are good...
Makaay
Holland International with the U-21 squad. He arrived in Spain from Vitesse. As a side note Makaay made his Spanish League debut in the Tenerife-Deportivo game at Heliodoro Rodríguez August 31st, 1997. Last season he was the leading goal-scorer for Deportivo, La Liga champions. In the 2000-2001 season, he won the Spanish Supercopa championship with Deportivo. Physically very strong and technically superb, he has been one of the best acquisitions for Deportivo in the last few years.
Valerón
The Spanish International participated in the 2000 European Championships. He was incorporated just this past season in the Herculine Club arriving from Atlético de Madrid. In the 2000-2001 season he was champion of the Supercopa de España with Deportivo.
Mauro
The Brazilian International arrived at Deportivo in 1992 from Bragantino. He has won a King's Cup and two SuperCups with Deportivo (1995 and 2000) and was an undisputable starter for the Brazilian team that won a 4th world championship in 1994. He has won the Spanish League with Deportivo (99-00). One of the best players in the world at his position, he is strong and has a 6th sense in anticipating and intercepting balls for the counter attack.
Naybet
Morroco International. He participated in the World Cups of the United States and France. He has won 3 league titles in Morroco (89, 90, and 92), one African Copa (92) and one Arabic Supercopa with WAC (93) and one Portuguese Supercopa with Sporting (96). He is also one of the integral parts of Deportivo de La Coruña that won the Liga 99-00 and attained the Spanish Supercopa in the 2000-2001 season. He is regarded as one of the best central defenders in world football.
Donato
A Spanish International, he arrived at our football club from the Brazilian team Vasco da Gama. He has won three King's Cups (two with Atlético de Madrid and one with Deportivo) and two Spanish Supercups (Deportivo 1995 and 200) as well as the Spanish League (Deportivo 1999-2000). He is capable of playing at the highest level in different positions and is an example of professionalism for any athlete.
Héctor
One of the reinforcements brought in for the 2001-2002 season that arrives due to his great play as a right back with Sevilla.
Sergio
A midfielder who prefers to play in the center of the field, he is notable in the physical, tactical, and technical aspects. Sergio is a good passer, great conductor of the offensive game and capable of continuously adapting to the development of the game.
Juanmi
Developed in the Real Madrid system, the all-around athlete played 9 seasons in Real Zaragoza, the club where he won two King's Cups and a European King's Cup. Before that he had already won another King's Cup with Madrid. He was incorporated with Deportivo de La Coruña in the 2002-03 season.

He was champion of La Liga, Supercopa, and the Champions League with the Madrid first team. He has also been a champion of La Liga and the Supercopa with Deportivo.
Luque
A very technical player who doesn't back down from physical contact. He was one of the big surprises of the 2000-01 season with Mallorca and surpassed his goal-mark in 2001-02 with 14 more. He has an awesome shot with his left foot, is very fast and plays well up front. He culminated his great personal season with an appearance in the Korea and Japan World Cup, where he had his minutes. In August of 2002 he arrives at Deportivo.

He debuted in the first division with the C.D.Logroñés squad. Runner up in the King's Cup with Real Mallorca, he is one of the integral parts of the Deportivo de La Coruña team that won the Liga 99-00. Since he has been at Deportivo he has been called up to the Spanish International Team. In the 2000-01 season he was champion of the Supercopa. We could define him as a very regular player who contributes to the quality, discipline, and shape of the game.
