I just read this review by PC Gamer magazine. They really liked it and said the match engine is vastly improved. They scored it a 90% rating.

Mine was shipped Tuesday night. I should see it next week.

Its still made by the delevopers that made CM series a great game only with new partners sega since they departed with Eidos as now Eidos own the rights to the name Championship manager.

I learned the hard way how addicting Championship Manager can be. I'm not touching it again until 2040 when my son is the best player in the game.

Just to let you know that name of the game for North American distribution will be "World Soccer Manager" and not MLS Manager.

When did that change? Originally it was supposed to be MLS Manager.

so can you not manage in MLS in Football Manager?
Also, any league restrictions we should be worried about from the north american release or the only difference will be in the name of the game and the phrasing of some of the interaction?

Not sure on the first part. Need to ask someone who has the game running already. In the last few versions there have been issues between the game and MLS. I hope it is in all versions with SLC and Chivas starting up in 2005.

Not sure when it happened but the reason is that MLS is such a small part of the game. I believe that the game includes leagues from 41 different countries not to mention the ability to manage at least a hundred different national teams who's countries leagues are not represented like Jamaica.

I agree it is a good change, I just hadn't heard of it.

MLS is in the game. In fact the MLS logo appears upon start up of the game (and I have the UK version) along with some other copywrite logos and team names like AC Milan, etc.
I do know for a fact that expansion is not included so Real Salt Lake and Chivas USA will not appear. You seen that with the last version of CM that came out knowing full well that Serie A was expanding to 24 teams for this year. They didn't include that expansion.
I have read a long thread on the SI forums from a bunch of disgruntled MLS supporters who gave a long list of problems they had with FM because of things like the Super Draft, player reallocations, Project 40, etc. One guy even complained that all away clubs should be wearing white (which as a Crew fan knows that Columbus doesn't have a white kit, only black or yellow).
Coding MLS is too difficult because of the single entity concept, the league's control of players being bought and sold and the league's determining what level of player can be allocated to a club. Managers don't make those decisions. It is out of there hands.
I know that SI were trying to work closely with MLS. Maybe the league wasn't too helpful at getting those things coded. I don't know.

Have you tried to play MLS in FM, kevruth? Are those problems there if you have?

You deserve some Rep!
I agree. Some of those comments are, well, frustrating. Someday when there are enough yanks buying the game to pay for taking into account those things, great. But until then I don't see how it's worth it for SI to set up the game for the single entinty thing. On top of that, most all of the MLS fans I know COMPLAIN ABOUT SINGLE ENTITY. So the game gives them a chance to play out the games as though it didn't exist!
