I know that many in the US bought FM off of sendit.com as I did. So I downloaded 5.0.3 and it kept telling me that I didn't have a valid CD. I look a look at the CD and it had misspellings on it. Apparently, sendit.com got a bunch of very good quality pirate Football Manager discs. Anyway, I'm just getting a refund and going to Gamestop to buy WWSM today.

Same here. It just seems like the guys writing the American text didn't have a very good grasp of American soccer terms.

Who here calls their manager a "head coach"? That's football. In basketball he is just the coach, and in soccer and baseball he is the manager.

Here's a question that probably doesn't have an answer.

I've been coaching Shakhtar Donetsk of the Ukranian league. This is a very good team to use. They have a lot of cash, so you can go out and get some very good players. One problem. Dynamo Kiev hasn't lost a game in the UHL for 3 years!! I've been able to draw with them 3 times, but I just can't get around them. So I'm making the knockout stages of the Champions League, but can't finish higher than 2nd in the league. The board is getting restless. They're disappointed in my performance!! I'm in the semis of the Champions League, but I'm going to get fired soon.

Are there tricks out there to lower the ability of your opponents. Could I do this thru the media? Lower their morale somehow? I don't know, I'm reaching.

Do I need to finish my previous game before loading the patch? Will the upgrades not apply to my current game?

Upgrades won't affect saved games.

Yeah its a pain in the arse. I played Serie A with Juve. Inter win their first 12 games on the trot. If you go on a good run, antcipate another team to do it better. I've never had a team go without losing for 3 years, that is just odd. On some games, my team just doesn't turn up and I can get stuffed 4-0. Even if I'm unbeaten for 37 games or whatever, sometimes they don't perform. That just seems strange that DK would win all those games without slipping up.

Now obviously you don't want to cheat do you? Come on.........the best thing I can say is try and win the pressure of the mind-games when you go into games against them. Sometimes it can anger the opposition so much, that they forget their game plan and get laid to bed by your team bouyant on your comments to the press. However it also work in the opposite direction too, with players become disillusioned or worried at the pressure that you may put on them.

I normally slag my rivals off saying they have no realistic title shot (if they are 3rd or 4th etc) If they are leading (then say you hope to hurt their title bid etc, etc.) If you way behind and low on morale in the team, its better to just praise them and be done with it.

Actually the patch fixes bugs in your saved games. But the Data Update won't Move players around in the middle of your saved game.

some simple bugs yes. Probably the more deeply rooted bugs that lead to other situations later on, I.E. building blocks will probably require a new file.

Haven't installed the patch yet. I just got it downloaded.

I figured you'd all want an update on my great Barca season. I just completed a 4-0 thrashing of R. Sociedad in front of 84,000+ home fans. Ronaldinho was the man of the match with 2 goals and a 10 rating. His average rating is 8.64 over 25 games started and 3 played off the bench. In 31 league games Leo Franco has conceded 17 goals while keeping 18 clean sheets. I have 82 points in the league after 31 games. I've scored 82 goals and conceded 17 for a +65 rating. The league is mine.

I'm about to go into the Spanish Cup semis against Deportivo. Hopefully I can win the double, bringing joy and glory to the club.

Well, added the patch and finished my season with the Chicago Fire. The cool news is that it did change the rules regarding non-american on the roster. Some 22yo players I had signed were counting as SI's before, but that has been fixed. Also, they count TI's now, so you can have 3 of each.


One MAJOR problem with the patch though. There is no MLS Cup!!! They split it into eastern and Western Conference finals, but the two teams don't play each other! It just ends after the conference finals!


That is completely unacceptable. I've already started my next season, and I still don't have a champion for the last season.

That's interesting. Haven't played MLS in FM, but you did get an MLS Cup in CM4.

I just slumped to two losses. Away to A. Madrid and away to Sevila. What has happened? 4 matches left in the league and Real Madrid is now only 8 points behind. I need this next win. Cadiz at home should get me the W.

I just lost to Cadiz. Crisis at the end of a glorious season at Barca. I went from one loss to four in three matches. The next match is the second leg of the Spanish Cup Semi. I need that game to get me back in form. I'm 7 ahead of Madrid with 3 to play. Not good.

Well, I had the MLS cup in my first 3 seasons with the Fire in FM, but the patch took it out. That's what is so strange. It was there in the release version, and in 5.0.2, but it was taken out in the 5.0.3 update.

What worries me is that I've head SI aren't going to be doing any more updates for the game. Even if they do, it won't be for a while.
