So sell him for big money.
Sell baby Zidane?
I always play lower-league teams. I *never* have truly world-class players. It is people like Zidane who knock my teams out of the Champion's League. Now I get him and I must give him up?
I'm weeping.

I signed Zidane's regen as an 18 year old. 20 passing, 20 creativity, 20 flair. First time I've ever signed a true world-class regen, at least one who I could identify.
Friggin' annoying, he's been mediocre now for 1 1/2 years. Mostly 7s, never scores, not even many assists. Plus he's exhausted by September (stupid France call ups), so I can only play him for half a game every 2nd week.
He's an anchor of the French national team and every big-name club in Europe wants him. But he can't play for me. :(
i think it was in CM4 that zidane was terrible, despite having great stats. that may be a trend.
btw, how do you know its him?

But think of all the players you can sign with the money.
And if he's truely that good, you won't be able to hold onto him forever.

This is CM3.
How do I know it's him? I guess I don't. But French, not too fast, strong, passing 20, creativity 20, flair 20, showed up at Bastia as a 16 year old the year after Zidane retired (2008, I think) and immediately started kicking butt? Seems like ZZ to me.
What I can't figure out is how he can play 30 games for Bastia as a 16 and 17 year old, and after 4 partial games for me he's exhausted and needs rest. He's 19 years old, for God's sakes you'd think he could play more than 45 minutes every 2 weeks. Damn soft Frenchmen.
I never get a chance to sign Gazza's regen, called "Robert Reeves." Came up through Arsenal, signed by Barca as $$$$ 21 year old. Now he's about a 7.9 per game average as midfielder/creator for Barca, making 90,000 pounds per week. I was hoping this would be my Robert Reeves. But I'll have to sell the chump, I think.

I believe in CM3 if you have someone on your shortlist and then they retire, their regenerated player is added to your shortlist. So there is a way to tell. I do not think the regen is always as good as the original player. Many stats are random.

Or you can work on his stamina through training.

Or you can work on his stamina through training.
Zidane was never on my short list, as I could never afford him. Out of my league, financially.
His stamina is 13 now, which doesn't seem all that bad. And how do I train him to do better? I generally have fitness medium, sometimes high. Not sure what else to do.

Don't train him too hard in other aspects so that he has time to recover between games. I don't know if this is an option in CM3, but don't train on the day after a game or on game day. Just have him do marginal amounts of running unless you see his soccer atributes falling.

Just had the MLS Combine
FC Dallas drafted Chris Carrieri and I guess the supporters became disgruntled, because I just got the following message about the situation:
New FC Dallas boy Carrieri hit back at fans who think he will be a disruptive influence at the Cotton Bowl. The 24-year old striker condemned the supporters for prejuding him...
This game is too awesome.

I expect a similar statement to come out of the Rapids' camp in two weeks. ;)

Anyone had any success with the editor?
Froze up on me after I made changes and then the changes were refused.

trying the editor again.
Fixed one player and trying to save it. I do not have a lot of hope that this will work.

I did a few miniscule things with the editor:
Transferred Earnie Stewart to Westerlo---he's doing fantastic, btw
Transferred Eliseo Quintanilla to Getafe--- ~7.3 rating
Created myself in the game with sick skills.
So far no problems.
I also changed the name of one obscure German team.

How long does it take for the database to save? Takes forever for me.
Do you have to save the database after every player you change?

I started again with Arsenal so I can learn what the hell I'm doing. Then I'll start over with a lower team

Careful. Sometimes the biggest teams are the toughest. If you don't win the Premier League with Arsenal they will not be happy. Good luck!
I've decided I need a keeper. I am sick of 5 and 6 performances from mine. He does have good games, but not often enough for a championship side. Franco at Athletico looks like a great one but they don't want to sell him even though he's pissed and wants to leave. We'll see what I can do after work. I have a $27 million transfer budget so I think I'll be able to pry him away.

that is what I figured. I just want to get a feel for the game. With Arsenal I can try different training and test the transfer market. I'll probably do it for a year or two and then start over with a lower team. Hopefully by then I'll have my new computer. I'm not sure if I'll go for a gig of RAM. most likely I'll go with 512 MB, so the game will run a lot faster.
It takes like 1 minute to save now and a good 45 seconds to go between days and I only have England from League 2 up and Spain First Divison only runnin. I need my new computer like now!!

Question for the more experienced FM/WWSM managers out there.
I've read quite a bit on the last three or four pages of this thread about player ratings in the 8-10 area consistently. Is that the case just because these are top clubs and top players - or should you expect to see that even in the lower leagues if you're playing well?
I'm currently in the German Regionsaliga - it's mid April and I'm top of the table, so I'm doing well - but it's still a treat to see more than one player finish with an 8. I've had one 10 on the season (a hat-trick from a forward) and less than a handfull of 9s. My player in best form is averaging about a 7.8, and I just got a note that he is in contention for league player of the year. I've been pretty pleased with the general performance of my boys so far - but hearing about consistent high numbers has me wondering.

1st off, I've seen more 10s in WSM 05 than any previous version going back to 98/99 or 99/00, whichever that one was called. It is top players getting them, I'm playing with Barca and in a win I can expect one 9 and see 10s often. I haven't played with lower teams in this version, but in past versions I didn't see a lot of 8's with teams like Barnet. I think the top talent gets the 10s.
