...or fans who saw Rochester reach seven championship matches (winning four) in the franchise's first six seasons.

Sounds weird. I guess they're counting both US Open Cup and A-League championships.

We got Bush in the WH again. Is Soccer dead yet.
from look of things with San Jose not sure of it self, KC with $5 tickets , NE with 5k poeple for a playoff game, CBus with SSS and still draws like no body cares,NY/NJ team is a joke that no longer funny and needs a much better leadership in such big market. I can go on and on.
Lets hope for a better season next year.

However, this year also saw:
-An increase in attendance at the Home Depot center, as opposed to dropping off from the opening year.
-An increase in average attendance.

But don't forget in 2005 we will see:
-New stadium for Dallas
-Construction continuing for new stadium for Chicago
-Start of construction for a new stadium in Colorado
-Maybe the start of a new stadium for Metrostars
-Two new owners in the league, along with two expansion teams
-A great rivalry in LA--should produce sell-outs and lots of passion for the fans of both teams
-Probable further increase in average attendance

Rumors of MLS' demise are a bit premature.

By the way, the bond vote on this issue in Commerce City passed today, so yes, the likelihood is that we will see construction begin next year for an opening in 2007.

Folks are getting real bitter over the whole situation with the earthquakes.

Folks are getting real bitter over the whole situation with the earthquakes. A little too much so, I think. There was a bit of a perfect storm that brewed in that market, but SEM had a lot to do with why a San Jose franchise could operate for that long under those conditions. MLS is considerably better at the stability game than most any other leagues at this stage of development.

Heck, the NBA is still moving teams around in Charlotte, New Orleans, and Vancouver because it can't find the formula all the time.

Is anyone else worrying that the words "soccer" or "stadium" do not appear anywhere in that proposal?

Is anyone else worrying that the words "soccer" or "stadium" do not appear anywhere in that proposal? The reason they don't is that none of the money goes to the stadium itself--well, no, that's not quite true--there will be financing, but no out and out gifts. Kroenke will be the one paying back the stadium bonds, if not from stadium rveenues, then from his own pocket. (And eya, it probably had a better chance of passing without the word 'stadium' in it, but unless the language subjects them to legal challenge or something, it doesn't eman anything.)

More great news to go with new MLS investors, new MLS sponsors, USNT getting through to the hex... What a great year it's been.
