The Knicks sure like undersized big men, don't then? They now have Kurt Thomas, Taylor, Rose, Sweeney and Jerome Williams (am I missing anyone?). And let's add Moochie to Houston's collection of backup guards.
I personally hate the Mohammed trade because it totally kills his fantasy value.

And the Celtics trade Gary Payton, Tom Gugliotta and Michael Stewart to.....
the Atlanta Hawks for Antoine Walker.

And skip I disagree with you in regards to Nazr. He's barely been getting PT with the Knicks and will get alot of PT with the Spurs to go with his 10 pts and 8 rbds a game.

Wow - interesting day.
I'm actually a Rose fan, although I don't think Pop was crazy about him.
Nelson sure likes some goofy white guys. Trading for Sean Bradley, trading Webber for Gugliotta, and now trading for Van Horn. Hope springs eternal.

Wowy wow wow. I'm imagining 'Toine and Ainge at a karaoke bar singing "Reunited and it feels so good..." This has been the wackiest trade deadline in recent memory.
And I hope you're right about Nazr. I haven't dropped him yet but I don't like the idea of him sharing time with Nesterovic.

Make sure you tell me before you drop him so I can pick him up. :p

I am thoroughly convinced that Isaiah Thomas is either :
a) on crack-cocaine
b) Involved in a conspiracy to destroy the Knicks for good
c) The dumbest human being on the planet.

Rumor has it the Hawks and C's had a deal in place where Atlanta will waive Payton, and the C's will pick him back up. That's why ATL got a 1st rounder from Boston. Very interesting if that happens.

I've also heard GP is going to be waived but that he was hoping to then get picked up by a contender in the West.
Interesting either way.

Of all the nationally televised games I have watched so far, tonight's game against the Sixers was there best game so far. They were down the entire first half, but were competitive. In the second half, they played the best Knick defense that I have seen since, like, the Ewing/Larry Johnson/Ward/Sprewell, etc. days. They finally started Sweetney...seriously. The guy is an 6'6" version of Shaq. Everytime he would get the ball in the post, he was fouled. He never ever stoped from trying to pick up and offensive rebound. Kurt Thomas played a great game....and having him as a Knick is a good thing. The guy is a "Knick." Tim Thomas stepped up tremendously in the second half. If the Knicks can play like this everynight, they have a great chance of making the playoffs. It could happen, but is it the best idea? I don't know.
The trades: Nazr had a nice run in December, but he hasn't been the same. Jerome Williams, Thomas and Sweetney are small guys, but these guys use their strength to cancel out the height problem. If you have a nice wingspan and can challenge for a rebound, then you're in good shape.
Oh yeah, is Trevor Ariza a good player or what? He's gotta work on his jump shot...but that should come with time. He's everywhere on the court. I can't believe how Marv Albert was all suprised when Kerr said could be an All-Star. I know Marv went through some bad times with the Knicks in the offseason, but come on dude.

Isiah Thomas is a complete failure anywhere he's been besides a Pistons jersey. The guy is a complete loser and a fraud.

Well, he did win a national championship at Indiana. But his post-NBA career has generally involved running things into the ground.

I don't know, besides being a homer, how this kid could get anything out of that game. Each side dressed 8 players due to the trades.

I know - but we like to humor MS10 because he's a good guy and his comments on the train wreck that is the Knicks makes good reading.

So there was nothing positive out of that game? I know that I'm always optimistic on these boards about the Knicks and some of the things I have said may have been kinda silly. But if a your a fan of a team that had great players one year and the next they had to decide whether or not Weatherspoon is a starter, any time you see your team win, something positive happened. If you wish for me to elaborate on what I was saying, here it goes.
The NY Knicks aren't praised in any way in the media, but hey, they're from NY. The Jets had 10 wins and they had no chance of winning according to these same people (yeah, I did think they had a good chance of beating Pittsburgh). Anyways, Sweetney and Ariza aren't given any attention at all by the media. Sweetney is a second year pro and is in my opinion, the best rebounder on the team. He's like a smaller Shaq. He challenges for offensive rebounds and whenever he's under the hoop, he's always getting fouled. I think I'm the only person who notices that he's always getting fouled....and getting fouled..is a good thing. Ariza is 19 years old and plays with all the confidence in the world. His jump shot needs to be improved, but he's going to be a gamebreaker one of these days if everything goes right. Often times this season, he'll enter the fourth quarter and start a streak. Why Marv Albert was so suprised with Kerr's comment leaves me confused. The guy was all over the place. He made some rookie mistakes while on defense, but give the kid a break.
Playoffs? Highly doubt it. But you play to win. Why is Webber to Philly a good move? How many times has this guy gotten injured? He missed some (if not all..can't remember exactly) of the playoffs last season. What if that happens again? Antone Walker is horrible. Why is his move to Boston a good thing? Shaq almost could messed up his ACL worse then he did. It's not over until it's over.

Off that topic...how about Darko? This guy could have been the #1...now he averages...nothing. The Pistons should trade him. There's no point in having a player not getting any minutes. He needs to play....it's only fair.

He needs to play....it's only fair.I'd give him one more year. Year 3 is big for teenagers (though he was drafted at 17 so he might need another year, who the hell knows). Look at guys like J. O'Neal, Eddyson Currydler, Al Harrington, T-Mac, Rashard Lewis - it took them all 3 years to really get comfortable. Development's especially slow with big men - Big Z didn't grow into his body until his late 20s.
His trade value couldn't be lower - trading him now would be a disaster. Pistons still have another year to let him grow; in summer 2006, they can decide whether to pick up his option for the 4th year. There's no need to hurry this. Although, I'm curious to know what the hell he did in the pre-draft auditions that impressed so many people.

Interesting evaluation - so will the Knicks make the playoffs?
No. They're 12th in the conference, 6 games behind the 8th team with about 30 to go.
6. Chicago, One of the best teams in the East over the last 25 games.
7. Orlando, -0 Decent team, may fade some
8. Indiana,, -1 Better now that O'Neal is back, should improve soon
9. Philly, -2.5 Just improved a ton, If they gel quickly
10. Milwaukee -5,5 Probably won't make it
11. Toronto -6.5 Diito
12. NEW YORK They have to get ahead of Milwauke and Toronto, then 2 of
the other four. Don't see it happening.

Don't forget - they can get the 3rd seed by winning their division. It won't happen, but not as tall an order.
