Rangers News:

Martin Rowlands is out after leaving the match last Saturday with a foot injury. As of yesterday, they were still awaiting the results of a scan, but the team says he won't be risked tonight regardless of the outcome.

Tony Thorpe is available, after returning to the bench last weekend. His entry into the starting lineup alongside Furlong could see Gallen returned to central midfield with Bircham, leaving Cook and either McLeod or Branco wide on the other side. Jamie Cureton is "unlikely to be risked" and may return on Saturday.

The backline of Rose/Simek/Santos/Bignot will likely again be deployed in front of Chris Day.

The match is all ticket, so sales are now suspended.

The Opponent:

With Millwall having a bit of a European adventure this season, they're a couple of games played behind the rest of the pack, so their position in the table is probably a bit misleading.

Millwall captain Kevin Muscat faces a late fitness test after missing last Saturday's game with an ankle injury. Striker Neil Harris is out after picking up an injury in that game.

Their last six (most recent first):
A Stoke L, 0-1
H Liverpool L, 0-3 (Carling Cup)
H Cardiff D, 2-2
H Gillingham W, 2-1
A Sunderland L, 0-1
H Forest W, 1-0

The Series:

Rangers trail this one -- 18-15-29. The London rivals have not met since QPR wins in the 94/95 FA Cup and 93/94 League Cup. Their last season together in the League was 89/90, with Rangers earning a win at Millwall and a draw at home. The teams first met in the 1899/1900 season, in February 1900, a 2-0 FA Cup victory for Millwall.

The Referee:

Phil Prosser works the match. This is Prosser's first game as high as the Championship this season, with 10 games (20 yellows, 2 reds) coming in League One (4), League Two (4), the League Cup (1), and the LDV Trophy (1). He worked our 1-1 home game with Bristol City last year in which 5 yellows and 1 red (for Bristol City) were issued. He didn't work any QPR matches in 02/03. In 01/02, he worked the 4-3 home win over Wycombe (Wycombe had two men sent off in the 45th minute). Those are his only two career QPR matches working the middle.

Get the helmets and flack jackets out. We're playing Millwall  .
Should be an intense game. A sort-of derby (they're not west London). Like to see our boys stuff Dennis Wise and the rest of those thugs.

Of note in this article, Marcus Bignot's 5th card of the season means he'll miss Saturday's match against West Ham.

Damn, damn, damn:
An initial x-ray suggests that injured midfielder Martin Rowlands has broken the second metatarsal bone in his damaged foot.
....
Swelling around the injury has made a definite diagnosis somewhat difficult.

Nevertheless, the Loftus Road medical team have admitted there is an 80% chance that the bone is broken and an MRI scan will provide a definite answer within the next 24 hours.

Should the break be confirmed Rowlands faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines and could conceivably be out until Christmas.
The only good news is that Gareth Ainsworth is only a week or so away from first team action. Still... I wouldn't want to lose last year's player of the year until Christmas.

With Rowlands out, Holloway has moved Bignot up to the right wing and moved Simek to right back. Rose to center back and Gino back in the lineup.

Day; Padula, Rose, Santos, Simek; Cook, Branco, Bircham, Bignot; Gallen, Furlong.

Bench: Cole, Bean, McLeod, Thorpe, Donnelly.

Josh Simpson on for Jody Morris for Millwall in the 25th. Commentators think Millwall is going 3-4-3 with the change.

Ouch. Hayles scores for Millwall as the R's "fail to clear their lines" and Hayles "used his strength and power" to get around Simek and beat Day.

QPR 0-1 Millwall

This match is sweet for Canucks.

Bircham, Simpson and Serioux :)

No matter who wins I'll be happy.

Note: Serioux was playing for the Toronto Lynx this summer and Simpson for the Colorado Boulders. Talk about a jump of playing level...

Bircham and Millwall's Hayles both get booked. I think this is Birch's fifth, so he may have to miss a game soon.

Thorpe on, Branco off, Gallen drops into the midfield. Also, McLeod came on for Padula at the same time, so we're going to a more attacking lineup to try to get level.

Cook was standing in front of Serioux as Serioux was about to make a throw in. Cook did NOT jump up or anything, but Serioux threw the ball right at Cook's face and was given a red card with 24 minutes to play.

Come on, you R's!

They played for the Canada B squad (which is good, but bad at the same since it shows our lack of depth).

I bet they never thought they be spending Christmas in London...

Another one is getting a trial at Ipswich (S.Grande)

Serioux's speciality are his long throws, but from what you say, that was a truly stupid move he made.

He better pray Millwall hold on because I think Wise will eat him for supper.
