Adrian Mutu has been sacked by Chelsea football club. I think this is a silly move by Mourinho. It was reported that AW was quoted to have said Mutu was last seasons best new comer. Is it possible we could acquire him? I mean this will probably be after his drug ban, but Mutu has a lot characteristics that could improve our side tremendously. For example he can play wide right and right sided CF. I think AW should stick his neck out and show the world what a bigoted, arrogant fool Mourinho is by rehabilitating this player back to his former best. Mutu is an underrated talent imo.

In that case, Wenger really is blind.

Mutu can play wide right? News to all of us, who, you know, watched him all of last year, and stuff.

How is cutting loose a player who fails a drug test, who's told off his manager repeatedly, who's been busted for repeated offenses and who's failed to impress on the pitch "bigoted"? Are you sure you're not confusing it with "logical"?

Mutu was one of the best players in Serie A and had been linked to lot's of big teams before moving to Chelsea. You don't lose talent like that. Fair enough, he made a mistake but he is still good enough and young enough to get his career back on track. I would gladly sign him for any club. It wouldn't be that great a risk and at least you gave it a go. A player of Mutu's calibre is well worth the gamble. I've no idea where he could play for you though. The obvious choice would be to rotate him with Bergkamp. Then again, he might still be banned when Bergkamp retires.

Not really weighing in on Mutu's value or whether he deserved to be sacked but just want to know.....why is this is in the Arsenal forum?

Oops. Nevermind. I see there's a desire by some to sign him.
Carry on.

I loved that Mutu Free Kick where he hit it off the Wall with his right foot and Came back to Hit it in with his left. I Have no problems with Mutu coming to Arsenal. We need depth.

10/10 ;)

Surprise Surprise,

We're all the same aren't we? Bigots are in our mists, Bias in our blood.
It amazes me how we can readily negate other teams faults without acknowledging their triumphs yet still attribute individuals to the enemy once they have even part. Adrian Mutu is not a Chelsea player. He is not contracted. He is a remarkable talent. To deny ourselves a chance to resurrect a talent now in the controversy of drugs would not be taking advantage of our competitors. Mourinho has let go of Mutu for free because he is banking on the fact that his main competitors would not have the nerve to adopt him despite his condition and baggage. Mourinho thinks he can afford to let go of Mutu out of arrogance and for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United to ignore this along with their European counterparts would only enforce Mourinhos arrogance and only give him an extra point. Think of this as profiteering from our competitors faults.

i would agree. even if he's such a problem, why not try to get something back for him? loan him or transfer him or something.. he's still a pretty good striker, especially for his national team. his old team (i forget who) was about to get him back on loan until the deal fell through. from what i hear, he just got caught up in the partying london lifestyle and lost his focus and drive. this happens all the time to american sports stars and some of them even manage to get back on the right track.. as far as i can see, it'd be a fairly low-risk maneuver to pick him up.

Mutu is a talented player, but I think he's suited better for the Italian league or possibly the Spanish league. I don't think that it would be wise for Arsene to bring him into the team. Sure he would be a good fit with TH up front, but there is plenty of young talent on the team that I would rather see.

Sorry, I don't have any mists.

I don't think you're seeing the point here.

Adrian Mutu is not a Chelsea player. He is not contracted.

So far so good.

He is a remarkable talent.

Except that he's not proven he can do it on a Premiership level. Not only that, he's also proven to be a major headcase.

To deny ourselves a chance to resurrect a talent now in the controversy of drugs would not be taking advantage of our competitors.

You have a team that's firing on close to top cylinders. Taking on a player who's known to affect chemistry to try and resurrect him is foolish. Besides, his track record is quite spotty.

Mourinho has let go of Mutu for free because he is banking on the fact that his main competitors would not have the nerve to adopt him despite his condition and baggage.

Not really. I think Mourinho will be fine with Arsenal or ManUtd picking up Mutu. Go for it.

Mourinho thinks he can afford to let go of Mutu out of arrogance and for the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United to ignore this along with their European counterparts would only enforce Mourinhos arrogance and only give him an extra point.

That makes no sense. One would you think you'd want Mourinho's arrogance to increase.

Think of this as profiteering from our competitors faults.

If only you were the Executive at Arsenal when we still had Bogarde. We'd have released him, and he'd be backing up Cygan now. Ah well.
Also, you'd be profiting, not profiteering.

I think some of you Chelsea fans have a very short memory. Mutu was indeed the best newcomer last season........ at least during the start of the season. He, Duff and Bridge looked like the only good players Chelsea has brought. He looked like the prefect replacement for Zola; and you Chelsea fans were singing "who needs Rooney when we had Mutu?"
But yeah, I wouldn't want him to come within ten feet of Arsenal. He, Veron and Crespo were the unholy money-hungry trio that Raneri was talking about. There are sooooo many strikers out there that are just as talent, or even more talented than him, and they don't have his stinking attitude.

 He plays a good 7 games and we determine he's God? Give me a freaking break. We already sing "Tiago" songs. Doesn't mean we think he's the next Gerrard.
Crespo, despite the crap he's taken, actually had a pretty good year for us.
