here's what i'd like to see:

------Cudicini------
Johnson-Huth-Gallas-Baba
Geremi-Parker-Tiago-Duff
----------J Cole-----------
-------Kezza--------

yes, i know S**t loads of changes, we'll never see this many. still, a kid can dream:)

I'd put Robben in place of Duff - give him a rest. Or leave out Geremi and put in Robben for him. He needs to get back up to speed, and this is as good a game for that as any.

I'll second that opinion.
He's been out for such a long time he needs actual match competition - and bearing in mind the muckers we're playing against, i do use that word very loosely - to get back to the level required that will negate several appearances as a late sub.

Other than that, thats a decent looking squad.

8-0 would suit me rightly.

Can't stand that team, never could, never will!

he'll start or be subbed on i'm sure, i'm just thinking we've got Albion on the weekend right...he's only been back to full training
for two weeks or so, call me the cautious mother but i just don't want to see my boy hurt again!:) i think Arjen will tear West Brom(and west ham) a third corn shoot!

Can't stand that team, never could, never will!

i hear ya. that 0-1 scoreline on the second to last week of the season two years back will be avenged!! De Canio can't save you now!!!

though i would like to see Geremi get a start. considering what a revelation he was in pre-season, i think it's a real shame he hasn't
got a look in yet.

He had his chance at the begining of the year and dropped the ball. With all the other players we have waiting for an opportunity, Geremi will have to wait his turn for a while.

In an interview last night on Chelsea TV Jose said that Geremi would be one of the players getting a chance in the next two games.

Reading between the lines, although Jose wants to win the Carling cup I think he will be putting out what passes for our B side. So I think we will be adopting the Arsenal/ManU approach this year. Improve squad as we progress.

Then again, our "B" side would probably finish at least midtable in the EPL.

I reckon we're going to win it this year myself.
The squad is super strong, can't help but put out a decent side really.
Years ago, well, not that may really, it was actually considered an achievement to win the league cup you know.

Everybody really wanted it - but i get the dig ;)

There was a time too, that if Chelsea made the 3rd round, it was an achievement.:p

Of course, that was just after the time that we considered it underachievement if we didn't challange for the title and FA Cup.:D

*Opens door for Rick and one of his original 'pensioner' lines......

? What are you talking about? he (Geremi) has had, what, 2-3 subs in, and i don't recall him making any real errors.

In an interview last night on Chelsea TV Jose said that Geremi would be one of the players getting a chance in the next two games.

Good.

For some reason I am really looking forward to this game tomorrow. No idea why though, maybe it's because I hate West Ham so much too. Imagine if Chelsea was playing this West Ham team though:

--------------James------------
Johnson--Ferdinand--Pearce--?????
Cole--Lampard--Carrick--Bowyer
-------Defoe--Kanoute------

That's a good squad...ah how things change in the EPL...

That's what I mean. Look at that team. They got probably over 60mil for those players and have NOTHING to show for it but a half rate Bobby Zamora.

more like a semi dig mate :p ,but yeah i remember it well even though i was only a toddler,we'd the footie every saturday at three and of course motd with everybodys favourite chin, jimmy hill(happy days!!!),but up until 85/86 i though the pool were the only side allowed to win the milk cup,and they used like you said take it so seriously, full squads per round, playing the "b" side back then was unheard of.

god damit im getting nostalgic now for muddy sandy pitches, keppers picking up back passes, old skool tackles and that dog who used always run onto the pitchhttp://www.toyota-irl.com/forum/images/smiles/089.gif

Of course Chelsea first won it when it was still the League cup (1965) and the final was played over two legs home and away.

Funny how things turn full circle, in those days it was so new that not all the old first division clubs even entered it let alone put out first team squads.

Happy days
