How far has Lyon fallen? I know they are the champs for many years in a row, but they also get their top players taken by wealthier clubs.

How far has Lyon fallen? I know they are the champs for many years in a row, but they also get their top players taken by wealthier clubs.

So far, they have not fallen at all, since they are 1st in Ligue 1, and 1st in their Champion's league group.

Everyone in France sees this as a small miracle, considering the number of players they've lost. Add Elber and Caçapa, both out with severe injury, and you wonder how they're doing.

Seems that Le Guen has found some prodigious unknown players to fill the ranks : Nilmar, Cris, Essien and so on.

However, I doubt they'll keep this pace during winter. Soon, they'll have more players in hospital than on the pitch.

Either Ligue 1 is having a down year OR Lyon is extremely deep with talent/excellent talent scouts.

Im really glad to see all these threads dedicated to French clubs. We need a couple more me thinks. Anyone up for a Metz thread? Lens?

They've really only had 2 key players taken by bigger teams the last few years. Edmilson to Barcelona and Peggy Luyindula to Marseille and Luyindula wasnt really a big loss because they got guys like Nilmar, Frau and Wiltord. So actually they bring in more good players then they lose them.

Lucky Lyon that they have Elber and Edmilson.
Lyon didn't need Dorasu

Dhorasoo left on a free transfer and he was only a starter for half of his last season. They have the best midfield in Ligue 1 now with Essien, Diarra, Malouda, Govou and Juninho.

I dare to say that they will win the title.

Too much depth and quality.

Now battling on the CL front might be detrimental but they'll pull it off.

Monaco will not win the title. Their midfield is weak.

I dare to say that they (Lyon) will win the title easily.

How about that ?

This could be their last title because their are Juninho to Arsenal and Malouda to Inter rumors floating around. If they lose those midfield guys then the team will suffer greatly next year.

Last year, you would have "dared" say that Monaco would have been runaway winners...

It's a long long season...

Just wait til Lyon gets their injured players back. Lyon will win Ligue 1 by 10 points.

I'm not waiting for anything, Lyon has the best bench in Ligue 1.

Why is Lyon considered big? does it really have a lot of money?

They dont have as much money as Real Madrid, Barca, Man U, Chelsea, Milan, Juve, etc. but they do currently have the highest budget of all the French teams. I would say the reason they have done so well is that they have the best owner in France and they have made a lot of good decisions as far as bringing in the right players. Their youth academy is also oustanding. Lyon have also benefited from PSG and Marseille's inability to be consistantly good.

Quelle equipe,

NICOLAS PUYDEBOIS 23 ans
ANTHONY REVEILLERE 25 ans
LAMINE DIATTA 29 ans
JÉRÉMY BERTHOD 20 ans
FLORENT MALOUDA 24 ans
MAHAMADOU DIARRA 23 ans
MICHAEL ESSIEN 22 ans
JÉRÉMY CLEMENT 20 ans
PIERRE-ALAIN FRAU 24 ans
NILMAR 20 ans
BRYAN BERGOUGNOUX 21 ans

rentré en cours de jeu
JOHANN TRUCHET 21 ans
SYLVAIN IDANGAR 20 ans 1 match=20 min/1 but
YOHAN GOMEZ 22 ans

Quand je voit les jeunes qui ont: BERGOUGNOUX,
HIMA,CLEMENT,BERTHOD, HATEM BEN ARFA...

Merci D'avance
