It is true that OL are after 'celebrity' forwards.. Michael Owen is one of 'em ;)

Michael Owen would never come play in France. Houllier being there wouldnt be enough to persuade him. If he goes to ManUtd. then they can dump Louis Saha on Lyon or Monaco who would both take him I think.

Monaco will get either Saha, Baros, or Anelka all of those 3 are their targets.

They can have any of them.

The only of the three that remotly interests me is Saha, but poor old fragile frankie is always hurt.

Pipe dream maybe, but I am sure Owen wouldn't mind playing for another CL contender. I mean yeah, there is less overall exposure in France but playing on a team like Lyon has to be tempting for a lot of upper level players...(except for Essien  )

I'm sure John Carew hasn't regretted his decision to come to France so far..... :D

Yep, with all this Essien/Owen-talk, his situation is
going a bit under the radar...
Anyway, my understanding of this is:
_he is under contract till 2006, he wants to sign
an extention ( with increased salary) but this is
not happening very fast and I don't know why...
Does he want too much? I dunno... Doesn't seem
he has offers from any other club at the moment,
that's for sure. Might be his age (30), he could leave
a free-agent in a year.
That's where things are, and again, as far as I
know.
I wish the club gave him what he wants (assuming
it's reasonnable) and kept him for 2 or 3 more years.

My fave Lyon player is Juninho but why was he out of the first game. Is he on his way out ????? since he played in the confederation cup, he was authorized to report later (as were the africans, also due to fixtures with their NT's) he didn't go to tignes, but has been doing double practices, and will play against strasbourg sunday.http://olweb.fr/fr/cmc/event/136/2005/31/3746.html
he is a bit dissatisfied with the way his extension is going, and has said that if there is no extension before sept. 1 he will not negotiate during the season. that means next summer he can leave on a free.

Theres always the possiblility that Owen could be loaned out to OL for this season.i can see a loan; madrid's not interested in him now or ever, but getting rid of his salary is more important than the paltry transfer fee he'd fetch right now. the market may be better for him this winter, certainly not worse!
but he'll never go anywhere but england, above all not to OL who don't really need him (or his salary). JMA is just trying to confuse everybody, and he's doing a rather good job!

Essien stays. Aulas tells it like it is.

I think Essien is now gonna sit in his little corner and cry. Awwww poor baby didnt get what he wanted. He still needs to be booed heavily this weekend.

i'd rather see him go to MU than stay. apparently the talks w/ them are "healthier", not only about $$$$$$$$, and i think sir alex is just the kind of headmaster mike needs. a lesson for chelsea, for essien, and for the football world in general. OL is on a mission from god.

i doubt owen will come to OL because he wants a starting spot and he will most likely not get it in competition with govou and carew

Essien has stated that he won't play any more first team matches for Lyon.

I think he's bluffing. If they hold on to him, as I think they should, there's no way he'll rot on the bench. No big club will buy him over the winter or next summer if he pulls this stunt.
