hehehe forget booing i say they pull a "roma fans" and chuck flares at whomever pisses them off lol just kidding roma fans are great and doing that will probably get the fans banned but it would be some decent retribution selling him for 35 mil is a mistake chelsea can afford more i mean they offered 60mil for sheva
Roma can eat a dick as far as I'm concerned....
After screwing Auxerre out of Mexes, they can't buy or sell players anymore.... Classic. You reap what you sow in life.

Essien Pleas With Abramovich
7/24/2005 3:38:00 PM
Lyon midfielder Michael Essien has pleaded with Roman Abramovich to get his wallet out and bring him to Chelsea.
The French champions are refusing to let the Ghanian international leave for less then their valuation, which according to the 22-year-old is now £35m.
Chelsea have previously had offers of around £18m rejected.
Essien told the News of the World: "I have the feeling Lyon will not sell for anything less than £35m.
"My last hope is Abramovich. It is he who has to make the decision. I hope he will meet their demands.
"I cannot see myself staying at Lyon - no way.
"I don’t even want to think about it. It is now in the hands of Abramovich."
Yep, that's pretty piss poor all the way around. What a douchbag.

Essien sure is a crybaby little b***h aint he ? If Chelsea play Lyon in the Champions League I want the Lyon home crowd to treat this guy like he deserves to be treated. Booed unmercifully.
I have to agree with that. ;)

Carew is on FIRE!!!
What the hell happened to him!?!? Every time I check out Lyon scores, his name is on there with a bunch of goals like in his Rosenborg days.
What is it about Lyon that awaken this player from this long sleep?

Roma is Roma and Valencia is Valencia... not the greatest of teams, but not terribly bad either. They are NAME teams with alot of NAME players, players good enough to carry/support any good striker.
Saying that Carew is better now because of his new team mates might be part of it, but not entirely true. Something must have happened in Lyon that triggered something in Carew, and thats what i'm trying to figure out. Could it be that he couldn't cope with the preassure of playing in two BIG club teams? Not that Lyon is a small club, especially now... but certainly not as big a name as Roma or Valencia.

I dont know much about Valencia or Roma but the recent success of Carew could have somthing to do with the quality of the wingers who can cross the ball to Carew and he can easily out jump many defenders to reach the ball.

I havent been posting here because I'm still upset about the John Carew signing. I cant believe Houlllier is so enamored with this guy. Houllier made some bad singings at Liverpool so this could be another one. I cant believe he thinks this guy is the savior when I dont think he's scored more than 13 goals a season ever. He looks like a big tall stiff to me. Well at least he wanted to come there I guess.
Hmmmm....
I hate to say I told you so about Carew.... But I will anyways Sportboy... :D

i hate when players do that it just makes them seem like babies, i mean they are the EMPLOYEES of the team and when you are on a contract you should have to honour it or face severe penalties like the rest of the working world
While I'm actually not in favor of buying Essien from Lyon, that's pretty stupid. Most employees are on contract, for one, and are also free to talk to other employers about job opportunities. Essien has honored his contract in every respect, so what's the problem.
Now, of course, if you think he's a whiny bitch for wanting to go to Chelsea, that's a different issue. ;)

Lyon : Essien a refusé de jouer contre Auxerre
27 juillet 2005 - 20 h 46 -

you know, considering he's such a whiny prat, i'm glad he's not going to Utd.

actually he is still on contract with lyon and i consider him a whiny bitch because he is whining and will not play to his full ability if he does not get a transfer if you ask me it wouldnt matter who the player was or where they want to go actions like essiens just annoy people and piss of the fans of the team he leaves even more
