There's plenty of room for it sur la Place
Bellecour :D they could put it somewhere in the project for the confluent, but there's already a big museum, a marina, parks... the rest of the land will be for (expensive) housing, and in any case that land will so valuable that it would eat up most of aulas' proposed 250M€ envelope even before they laid the cornerstone!

Here what Jean-Michel Aulas said today (June 17) about latest OL's transfer rumours.
http://olweb.fr/images/photo/2005/19/5118.jpg
Djila Diarra
"There is no doubt about its presence between the Rhone and the Saone the next season. There were certain rumours. We intended to speak about Arsenal and about Inter Milan. I saw the 2 presidents last week in Amsterdam, it was not that rumours of agents... there was no offer "
Mickaël Essien
"There is a rather strong pressure on behalf of Chelsea, the only club which appeared officially to date. We remain on our guards. We will do everything to keep it. It is a jewel and one of the best players of Europe. For this reason Chelsea is interested in it but it is necessary to put at it a price which is equivalent to the best players of Europe. I saw that the English club quoted interesting with other players, so much in mediums of ground than to attacker. That locates about the level of resistance of the Olympic Lyonnais. For the moment it is with us, his heart is in Lyon, it wants to remain and we hope to count it in our manpower the next season.
20 million? 25 million? Quite sour that not. 25 million was already refused... It is much much much more than that "
Milan Baros
"He wants to remain in Liverpool. It is what he yesterday evening said to us via his agent.
It is necessary to want to play the Olympic Lyonnais before coming to sign, it will be perhaps for the next season or another. It will be thus another assailing "
Marouane Chamack
"We continue to discuss. I had said it, Marouane Chamack formed part of our priorities. We transmitted a very beautiful offer to Of Gironde and We are about to send them another in the days which come. This one will be a little higher to make it possible to the leaders of Bordeaux to reflect well.
There are other solutions but it is a priority among the young players who interest us and who can make the World cup the next year "
Jérémy Toulalan
"The discussions are in hand, I see the president Grippon Wednesday in Paris. We made an interesting proposal with the Nantes leaders. They refused it but one continues to follow the file."
Mwaruwari Benjani
"Gerard Houllier and Bernard Lacombe are very interested by Benjani. It is a player who, indeed, interests us much... "
Didier Drogba
"We can believe in Santa Claus very late but it is not topicality on the short term. We will keep good relations with him as one had maintained some with Benoît Pedretti. But for the moment one is not rich enough."
Sylvain Monsoreau
"the file advances well"

Benoit Pedretti: "To mark the history with Lyon"
http://olweb.fr/images/photo/2005/24/5646.jpg
Admiring of the play developed by Gones, Benoît Pedretti affirmed his motivation to contribute to formidable walk in front of the Olympian ones.
The year spent, the OM it was the choice of the heart... Is this year, the OL the choice of the reason?
"It is anything else. I came here to gain titles because I have for the moment only one "Coupe de la ligue" (League Cup) to my prize list. There are many things to make with Lyon, much competitions to play this year and this Champions League whom I finally will discover. That very pleases to me to be here today.
Why leave Marseilles? Here everyone wanted me. Lyon plays in Champions League, a very important competition in my eyes. Side of Marseilles, I was not retained at 100%. The last year I had my reasons to go to over there. It was really my team of heart, that which I supported when I was small like certainly not badly among you.
Today, Lyon is marking the history. I am there to help the club to go even higher on the level of the results."
L'Olympique de Marseilles
"You cannot say that it is a half-failure like one could hear it but simply a good experiment. That made me progress as a player but also as a man. I did not lose a year, quite to the contrary. This year made me progress, integrated me still more in team of France even if that were not super on the level of the results. I could have done better as I will have been able to make worse. The page should be turned."
L'olympique Lyonnais
"This team develops really a very beautiful football. She sincerely gives desire for being on the ground. The 3-0 in Bremen was very impressive, without speaking about the 7-2 with the return match. Let us not forget the 2-0 against Manchester in first half. They are matches of another level and I want to live again of the evenings like those.
Meeting again? Pierre-Alain Frau (his former teammate in Sochaux FC) and I appreciate oneself much. That given pleasure of re-examining it. As for Sylvain Monsoreau, it is a question to ask to president Jean-Michel Aulas, patience... I have also the chance to have played with some Lyonnais in team of France, one knows myself well. I thus do not arrive in unknown territory, integration will be done more easily. It is in training courses like Tignes that a good group is formed, I will be likely to live that from the very start.
Lyons midfield? I come to play well on. There are enormously matches in the season and much of objectives. The coach will make his choice. Competition? It does not frighten anybody, quite to the contrary it will help us to advance, give the best and has us to progress. It is rather justifying and everyone will benefit from it.
Lyons crowd? That certainly will be different this year. Here environment must be extraordinary in League of the Champions. I am in a hurry really to be there. Everyone took pleasure last year, I hope that one will take this year as much of it.
My number of shirt? The 26 is only provisional, one will see thereafter... I carried number 17 to Sochaux then to Marseilles. Here, by respect for Marc-Vivien Foé who carried this number, I will modify this practice.
Freekicks? I same step will not approach. When one sees what Juninho did, as lately as yesterday with the Brazilian selection, in the interest of the team, is not necessary to discuss (laughter)."

Coupet, Govou, Wiltord, and then who?
For the last friendly, against Hungary,
Malouda (3 caps), Abidal (2) and
Réveillère (2) were also part of the team:

And of course, not counting "kiddos" who
are in Lyon's first team and also internationals
already, but U-19, U-20, U-21, etc
such as Ben Arfa (18 years old),
Benzema (17), Clément (20), etc
Lots of them, actually:

Shamelessly horked off yesterday eve's fiver:
Today, with all the depressing predictability of a Jo Brand fat gag,
Chelsea took out their chequebooks and made a GBP16.75m bid for Lyon
midfielder Michael Essien. Usually what happens next is as
straightforward as a Russian oligarch buying cut-price utility shares
from a confused peasant: club accepts bid, player agrees
GBP70,000-a-week deal, player moves to Chelsea. But these are
cheese-eating surrender-monkeys we're talking about, and today they
cried "Non! Non! Non!" (possibly with added raspy accents and comical
gestures too).
"25m Euros (GBP16.75m)? Of course not," spluttered Lyon chairman
Jean-Michel Aulas, while not choking on a raw onion he's been wearing
around his neck moments previously. "We have already refused that.
Essien is worth much, much more." How much more? Well, informed
sources in France suggest Lyon are holding out for GBP24m - the same
price Chelsea frittered on Didier Drogba. "Chelsea, who are the only
club openly interested in Essien, are putting quite strong pressure
on us but we are going to do all we can to keep him," harrumphed
pain-in-the Aulas. "He is a jewel and one of the best players in
Europe."

Lyon have made 2 signings so far. Pedretti and Sylvain Monsoreau from Sochaux. They are still chasing that large attacker that was promised. Baros said he wants to stay at Liverpool but Aulas said they are still trying to get him. My favorite recent Aulas quote is "The wallet of Chelsea does not give me any fear." :-)

Hmmm...Now it seems it isn't Chelsea doing
this bidding but Real Madrid:
"Although chairman Jean-Michel Aulas previously revealed he had rebuffed an approach from Chelsea, it appears as though Real Madrid may have been willing to put their money on the table last Friday.
"Until today, I have received no offer from Chelsea," he told L'Equipe. "The €25 million offer I got last Friday came from another club."

Houlllier really wanted the guy from Sochaux that they got ? I'm surprised he even knew who he was. It sounds like they wanna ship Jeremy Berthod out. They'd better sign Baros or Thomasson thats all I know.

They'd better sign Baros or Thomasson thats all I know.wanted monsoreau? are you kidding? he's one of the best defenders in ligue 1, i think he made an all league team. he's been on lacombe's list a while (he's the one who makes the recruiting decisions, and he's good at it!) to back up cacapa and cris.
he's not directly in compet with berthod, but he can play on the left if abidal gets hurt, hence the possibility of berthod's being lent or sold.
btw, i was at berthod's very first L1 match, he really lit up the house. i don't think he's put in another match that good since.
