The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced today that it has entered into a partnership with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) for the organization, marketing and promotion of the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup™, one of the world’s premier soccer tournaments which crowns the region’s top national team. CONCACAF and SUM will join forces and work closely together to design and execute operations, marketing and promotional plans for the 2005 edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup™.This has to be good news, right?

It is good news.

Traditionally the Gold Cup has been a PPV only affair thanks to Smiling Jack.

SUM means that at least FSW will get part of it.

I had a feeling something was afoot when there was a very vague promo for the Gold Cup "coming to stadiums across the country" on one of the Direct Kick games last week.

They can give some of the games to the new stadiums in LA and Frisco.
