OK so we're about a third of the way through the Championship season and there are plenty of positives and negatives.
Positive:
Defense - We have only allowed 9 goals which is best in the Championship. Butler and Carlisle are anchoring our defense and we even have depth with Killa able to step if someone goes down with injury.
Youth - As Simon Walton showed, the future looks good for Leeds. Players like Walton, Richardson, Killa, Carson will be able to gain great experience from playing in the lower level.
Neil Sullivan - Where would we be without him right now? Two penalty saves already, he has been a stalwart.
Danny Pugh - He would be my favorite player right now if he didn't come from Man U. Looks like a guy that can play at the next level.
Club Debt - It appears to be declining to a managable level. The club seems to be coming up with creative ways of minimizing it. There is still a long way to go. Hopefully a cash infusion will come if we are promoted soon.
Negatives:
Offense - 11 goals scored is tied for second worst only in front of Rotherham (5 goals). It seems as though the opportunities are there, but the finishing isn't. A guy who I would like to see is Simon Johnson but he's on loan at Sunderland. Blackwell's theory of building from the back to the front is clearly taking place.
Inconsistency - Best example was winning to start the season and then losing the next week to lowly Gillingham the following week.
Selling Arch Thorp - There are worse things but leasing your training facilities must be a pain.
Brian Deane - People were hoping for a renassaince (sp?) from this guy but it doesn't appear likely.
Kevin Blackwell is another positive, he has been doing a great job. What do you think?
