Wow.
Features Paul Weller, Hope Sandoval, Liam Gallagher, and some others you probably haven't heard of.
Amazing. I loved The Contino Sessions, but this album truly bridges the gap between "rock" and "electronic".
"Leather Girls" (actually two different tracks on the LP, leather and then Girls) was the first single. Sounds sorta like early Spiritualized with some analogue synths. Like most of their tracks, they use a live band, but back it up with minor drum machines and synth lines to add a little something. I believe the next single is "Hands Around My Throat", which I guarantee will be the next big song in every indie club and dive bar. Very early '80s electro, but dark and catchy.
The Liam track is starting to grow on me, but I think it's the worst track on the LP. The Paul Weller song sounds like he just wrote and recorded by himself and then handed it over to the band to let them put their name on it. Hope Sandoval sings on a few tracks, beautiful as always. I'm so stoked.
