Man, even with the number of articles the guy pumps out, Steven Davis never waters his writing down. I'd like to see a poll of who BigSoccer.com Users think is currently the best soccer writer in the country. I don't know if that means Beau Dure can vote or not. I suppose if our President can vote in national elections it'd be ok for Beau to vote in something as important as this.

If you're talking about the guy who writes for that Dallas paper, I agree. That Jamaica article made a lot of good points.

Time has come to table playoffs. vintage Jones (http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-soccercol19oct19,1,3709371.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-soccer)
This article is typical of Grahame Jones and his heavy-handed smugness.

I sustain that if they were to eliminate playoffs entirely and go to single table, eliminate Single Entity and allow the big teams to go after the latest washed-up Euro trash throw-away, I don't think that it would benefit the league.

I used to respect the LA Times for having a daily soccer column (axed in the aftermath of lost subscriptions due to their Arnold the Governator expose on groping women), but Jones is at best a BigSoccer newbie w/ little insight worth while.

"That [Latino interest] will never be a driving part of our attendance, but it's certainly a population segment that in no way, shape or form will we write off," he said.

Is it correct to say "never" when Latino interest was a driving part of Burn attendance?

And doesn't that quote betray contradiction?

You'd have to have Connolly, Jeff Bradley, Grant Wahl, Jack Bell, Frank Del'Apa and Beau Dure in the voting as well.

But Galarcep and Davis really do a great job of getting info first and have a knowledge of the game that helps them relate important aspects to the reader.

That would be 100% wrong. Latino attendance was a huge part of Burn attendance... before Southlake.

he has some decent points, but Grant Wahl has to be such an ass about it that it discredits him so much!!!

--It sounds like a pre-emptive attempt to save face in case they're not able to lure Latino fans back to the fold.
