For some reason, I'm interested to find out about this club. Can anyone provide me with some info on the club and players. Or just add anything about them, that would be excellent.

Back in the 1980s, they were one of the first clubs (maybe even the first) to be relegated from the Football League to the Conference.
They were promoted straight back however.
In 1967, they knocked Newcastle out of the League Cup by 2-1.
One of their most successful managers was Graham Taylor (1970s?) who went on to be manager of England in the early 1990s (which was painful for all concerned).
Darren Huckerby, now of Norwich, used to play for them.

Up and coming defender, and fellow Larne man, Gareth McAuley was signed by Lincoln from Coleraine this season and is apparently doing well. I think a few premiership scouts are having a look at him.

They were the first to get automatically relegated into the Conference (just behind Torquay and Burnley at the bottom).

I take an idle interest in Spurs, but this should really be my English team. My dad was a mad Red Imps fan when he lived in Lincoln, but since they've been Division 3 pretty much all my life it's too difficult to follow them properly in Australia.
Nonetheless I own a jersey and once attended a match at Sincil Bank. :)

I use to live about 25 mins away from Lincoln, but played for 2 years at one of the local rivals Boston Utd, and then coached and worked for their other rivals Grimsby Town, so I know quite about about all the Lincolnshire clubs

Maybe I can fill you in a bit.
Founded in 1884 from the merging of three previous Lincoln Clubs(Lindum, Lincoln Rovers and Lincoln Albion) originally played on the John O`Gaunts ground but moved to Sincil Bank (our present stadium) in 1892. Founder members of the Football league division two and thirteenth member of the football league (Hence all our bad luck over the years).
Record attendance 23,196 against Derby County
Record win 11-2 against Crewe Alexandra
Record defeat 13-0 against Peterborough
Record appearance Holder Grant Brown 469 (1989-2002) and he still sits in the stands to watch the games.
Nickname the The Red Imps
Last season finised in 7th place (Average attendance 4,910)
This season currently 13th place (Average attendance 4,670) league 2
As somebody has already said we were the first team automatically relegated out of the league but came back the following year.
Our biggest recent claim to fame is that three years ago we became the first professional football club of the modern era to come back under the control of the fans. The club was bought from the then chairman by the Lincoln City supporters trust (about 1,500 fans formed a co-operative society)
Hope this helps and if you want anymore info just ask :D

Sorry about that "Northern Premier league". I see from your profile you are 28 so I assume you couldn`t have played for the Pilgrims much before 94 and they were in the NPL then, then the Southern league, then the conferance and finally The Football League. So what league was it? Did you play for the first team? and how did you end up in Buffalo?
Lincoln Born and Bred, what about you, were you born in Louth ( a true Ludensian) or just lived there?.

I was a young kid just trying to push through, never got much luck, got a few injuries and never really made anything big. I then decided I wanted to stay in the game, so I was lucky enough to be offered a coaching job with the Grimsby Town Football in the Community, and then moved up to work with the Youth Team and School of Excellence
With me still being young and in such a position I fancied a change and ended up in the States, doing 3 differant coaching jobs.
Yes born and breed in Louth.
By the way do you know where Alan Buckley is these days? he use to be the manager at Grimsby when I was working there.

I think he imust be perfecting his gardening at the moment!
He had a brief managerial spell at Rochdale last season but it didn`t work out and I don`t think he is in football at the moment. If I find out more I`ll let you know.
Well I have to say it is nice to find a fellow "Yellowbelly" on Bigsoccer :)

An excellant player who has adjusted quickly to life in League 2 and I`m sure he will go on to play at a much higher level. Prone to the odd lapse now and then but he is definately getting better all the time. I don`t think it will be too long before Sanchez comes knocking on the door, especially if we can get promoted to League 1.
Did you see him play for Colraine? and if so what did you think?

Lets resurrect this thread? Lincoln have been in the promotion playoffs (unsuccessfully) for the past 2 years, and are right now in playoff position again, 3rd in League 2. Jamie Forrester has knocked in 15 goals, and Lee Frecklington has scored 8. The games are always lively and the stadium always pretty full. Being in a rural area the visiting supporters section is usually pretty empty, but the lincoln fans recently showed up in Peterbrough 2000 strong.

Third isn't a playoff position - it's automatic promotion.
