From the 16th to the 20th of October, ESPN Deportes will be free(Champions League falls under this week). They have a list of cable companies that will have it for free. They also encourage to call your cable/satellite companies to carry it for those dates. For FREE!!! Why are they doing this? Is it an experiment to see how ratings are doing? Or since it's free, it maybe the last week of Deportes on the air maybe due to many reasons. Who knows. But fuking FREE!!!!!! I'm pretty sure Dish Network won't catch the bait.

Not only Dish Network nor DirecTV does not bite, the list of cable carriers for this "free" promotion are all minor players. Where is the biggest MSO in the country?

This is pretty normal for guys trying to get clearance in the cable world. Comcast used to run networks for free in the past for a bunch of weeks and then have teh folks vote on which one they wanted. As the analog space is barely existant for new guys, the digital tier seems the most logical place for all of these little guys.

BTW, there are about 10 million Spanish cable homes, and about 700,000 on Sat.

:D I live in Northern Virginia (Fairfax) and Cox is carrying the free ESPN Deportes offer, the funny thing is right now I'm watching Madrid-Kiev on ESPN2, cause Deportes is showing Monaco-Olympiacos and I rather watch the Madrid game.

But the 4:45 game is Juve-Bayern (sweet) and they have the rest of the games today till 1:30 am. And tomorrow 2:45 pm, Barca-Milan (even sweeter).

I remember I saw an article a few months ago that Cox had reached an agreement with ESPN to carry all its channels, including Deportes. They've put it right next to the Spanish package, and since I have it, I'm hoping they'll eventually add it. I have to keep writing Cox just in case.
