Great job by the MPD last night. They kept the peace and everyone was allowed to actually have fun, concentrate on the game and enjoy themselves again.
The MPD were very professional, a stark contrast to the usual CSC morons. One thing that still bothered us were the two CSC knuckleheads wearing grey jackets to hide their CSC colors.
Why were they even there?

This proves what we have been saying for the last few years.
CSC is the problem. Thank you MPD.

Absolutely!! Btw, I didn't make the drum circle. was everything cool? Also some CSC lady came over and asked me about my hat. She asked where I got it and I told her FedEx :D

Begs, check your PM's....

Yeah I have to agree, I chatted with a couple of the officers during the drum circle and they didn't really see why CSC had such a problem with it, there was nothing illegal or harmful going on, and everyone participating seemed to be willing. One guy commented on how he thought it was cool that DCU had something likes this.

The MPD types were actually smiling most the time. Nice to have a game without CSC cursing at us or provoking bad behavior.

Yep. They did a great job.

The dude with the cool shades seemed to enjoy watching us go nuts.

I think having real cops instead of rentacops is a better idea. That's because being an actual MPD officer is putting a lot of stress on the ranks:

Compared to chasing phantom terrorists, watching soccer fans is a breeze.

I agree the MPD did a great job. I made sure to quickly thank several of them on my out and to ask if they had a good time.

The guy in the shades was at the Muncipal game as well and he was really cool there too. I saw him crack a smile or two at a few of our chants :)

I will make a "Support Your MPD!" banner for the Barra for the big game next week. I think it would be a nice touch. Especially coming from the "Supporters" :D

If I see him this week, I will see if he will be working the home playoff game and lobby on our behalf to have him work our section again.

He was a pretty cool guy, and for the record, I don't have a stay away order for RFK..... At least not that they told me about.

No doubt that the police were class. It also helped a lot that everyone (in 134 and 135) were on good behavior. The lack of bottle rockets and roman candles is key. Not too much seat standing until late in the game, but by that time the MPD were probably just enjoying the passion.

Cheers,
Tim

I think at first they were a little nervous about the whole thing. Then they realized that loud and boisterous (sp?) does not equal violent thuggery.

Oh, and the lack of threatening to kick our collective ass and flipping us the bird kind of helped also!

All it takes is one good "Club" sandwich and his tune will change. ;)

Will the MPD be working the playoff game? I think we all know that the Barra will be extra boisterous this saturday and I would hate for the CSC to show up again and rain on everyones parade. Rob?.....

my understanding was that MPD would work our section again, although the DCSEC is never consistent with anything.

Should I make a NICE banner for them? Or should I just leave well enough alone?
